Obama Economic Advisor Robert Reich on Economic Stimulus: White Males Need Not Apply, This is "Post-Racial"?

Didn't we just Inaugurate a Black President? I thought we were supposed to be "Post-Racial"?

And what happened to the promise of ensuring all government contracts would be competitively bid, Mr. Obama? Don't you want your precious road and bridges to be built by the best companies, the best people at the lowest cost, irrespective of race?

But if there aren't enough skilled professionals to do the jobs involving new technologies, the stimulus will just increase the wages of the professionals who already have the right skills rather than generate many new jobs in these fields. And if construction jobs go mainly to white males who already dominate the construction trades, many people who need jobs the most -- women, minorities, and the poor and long-term unemployed -- will be shut out.

Two weeks ago, Reich told the House Ways and Means Committe

…”I am concerned, as I’m sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high-skilled people who are already professionals or to white male construction workers…I have nothing against white male construction workers, I’m just saying there are other people who have needs as well.”

Committe Chairman Rangel echoed Reich's concerns, adding that the social engineering aspect of the stimulus be confined to low-income cities and to hold Governor's accountable to enforce Reich's "criteria" and "mandate".

So, this is NOT an earmark that Obama promised to end? Huh?

For the record, Reich told The NY Times last year: "I don’t believe in redistribution of wealth for the sake of redistributing wealth. But I am concerned about how we can afford to pay for what we as a nation need to do."

So if we don't have the answers, let's just assume socialism will work! Ever try free-market capitalism and tax cuts?

So you still think Obama is putting America first? His bogus Public Works Pork Bill, despite being useless, is now becoming, if not racist, at least more quota-fuel.
