Obama Pays Tribute to MLK, Calls on Americans to Volunteer

"It's not a day just to pause and reflect -- it's a day to act. I ask the American people to turn today's efforts into an ongoing commitment to enriching the lives of others in their communities, their cities, and their country." -- Barack Obama 1/19/09

We commend you Mr. Obama. Your ongoing call for Americans to serve one another is an endeavor we can all support.

Fueled by President-elect Obama’s call to service, this will be the largest King Day of Service ever. In 1994, Congress charged the Corporation for National and Community Service with transforming the King Holiday into a national day of service. This year, President-elect Obama is asking all Americans to serve on King Day and make an ongoing commitment throughout the year. Its not too late to get involved -- visit to register a project or find a volunteer opportunity, or our Impact Challenge for ideas on creating your own project.
