Classy Laura Bush Defends Both Barack Obama and Dick Cheney (Video)

Former First Lady Laura Bush says that it's okay for President Obama to address schoolchildren via a back-to-school speech.

"I think there is a place for the President of the United States to talk to schoolchildren and encourage schoolchildren," but that parents had "the right" to not let their children hear his speech.

Also, she didn't think it is fair for Obama to be called a socialist by foes - just as her own husband was the brunt of criticism under his watch. "We're polarizing a lot of people," she says. "I think it's just what happens."

She also comments that President Obama is "doing a good job," and his wife Michelle is "doing great."

Finally, she says that former Vice President Dick Cheney "has every right to speak out, and I appreciate that he's defending the Bush administration. I think that's important. I think there's a place for that."

Still classy; what a great woman.

Michelle Obama Commencement Speech At University Of California-Merced (Complete Video)

More rhetorical pro-socialist propaganda from "Team O". Enjoy!

Excerpts from The First Lady's speech, from NY Times.

Thank you so much, Class of 2009. (Applause.) All I can say is wow, and good afternoon, everyone.

Sham Wow!

I want to thank Dick for that lovely introduction. He makes for a good companion when you have to go to an inauguration.

Uh huh huh...

Merced's make-up may have changed over the years, but its values and character have not -- long, hot days filled with hard work by generations of men and women of all races who wanted an opportunity to build a better life for their children and their grandchildren; hardworking folks who believed that access to a good education would be their building blocks to a brighter future.

Wait. Doesn't that contradict your husband's anti-success, anti-capitalism "America Sucks" rhetoric last week as ASU?

You know, I grew up in one of those communities with similar values. Like Merced, the South Side of Chicago is a community where people struggled financially, but worked hard, looked out for each other and rallied around their children.

And utilized a pay-to-play mafia mentality; hence my rise to First Lady.

The institution [University of Chicago] made no effort to reach out to me –- a bright and promising student in their midst –- and I had no reason to believe there was a place for me there.

Newsflash, Michelle: It is a private institution and therefore has no obligations to do any outreach is does not choose to do. Like many major Universities, University of Chicago does plenty of community service. Just because you were not personally touched, does not make them a bad place. The government cannot and should not mandate to them where their charity goes!

And in less than a year, through that position, I worked with others to build the university's first Office of Community Service.

And henceforth began my career in "No -Show" jobs where I made a lot of money.

Now, let me tell you, careers focused on lifting up our communities –- whether it's helping transform troubled schools or creating after-school programs or training workers for green jobs -– these careers are not always obvious, but today they are necessary. Solutions to our nation's most challenging social problems are not going to come from Washington alone. Real innovation often starts with individuals who apply themselves to solve a problem right in their own community. That's where the best ideas come from.

Yup. Here we go. Pimp the "community organizer" industry. Make no mistake. "Non Profits" like ACORN are every bit as interested in making a buck as any other industry. Also note, "community" and "communism" share the shame root word. Just saying.

And then there's Van Jones, who recently joined the Obama administration, a special adviser to the President on green jobs. Van started out as a grassroots organizer and became an advocate and a creator of "green collar" jobs –- jobs that are not only good for the environment, but also provide good wages and career advancement for both skilled and unskilled workers; jobs similar to the ones being created right here at UC Merced as this green campus continues to grow.

Van Jones is a hack who doesn't know his ass from his elbow and lied this past week about so-called "green jobs"

The President has asked Congress to provide $50 million in seed capital to fund great ideas like the ones I just described. The Office is going to identify the most promising, results-oriented non-profit programs and expand their reach throughout the country.

What's another $50 Million? Besides, Barack owes the "non-profit" industry for helping to elect him!

And you will definitely have your share of setbacks. Count on it. Your best laid plans will be consumed by obstacles. Your excellent ideas will be peppered with flaws. You will be confronted with financial strains as your loans become due and salaries fall short of both expectations and expenses.

"Like when my husbands debt to the country come due and the nation becomes bankrupt with inflation and stagflation."

Look, I know a little something about the power of hope. My husband knows a little something about the power of hope.

No comment, except so does Bill "I still believe in a place called Hope" Clinton.

Michelle Obama: "Everyone should have a chief of staff and a set of personal assistants"

Michelle Obama, who recently told the United Nations that Sesame Street is the "best thing I've done so far in The White House", is really enjoying her new life!

The Washington Post reports:

First lady Michelle Obama called her "current life" in the White House "a very blessed situation, because I have what most families don't have -- tons of support all around, not just my mother, but staff and administration. I have a chief of staff and a personal assistant, and everyone needs that."

"Everyone should have a chief of staff and a set of personal assistants," Obama said with a laugh as she spoke before a crowd of business executives meeting today during a "Corporate Voices for Working Families" conference at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington.

Along with the issues of community service and military families, Obama has said as first lady she wants to focus on the struggles of working families.

During her 10-minute speech, Obama advocated for sick leave for parents, flexible work hours for employees and on-site child care, which she said "is something that keeps many of us up at night....You're just wondering where are we going to put our children where we feel like that they're being safe, that they're safe and being loved. That will relieve many of the stresses that parents feel on the job throughout the day."

Must be nice for a woman who remembers as a kid growing on the south side of Chicago being ridiculed for trying to be educated and get good grades.

"I wanted an "A". I wanted to be smart. I wanted to be the person who had the right answer. And I didn't care if it was cool - 'cause I remember there were kids around my neighborhood who would say 'ooh - you talk funny. you talk - like a white girl.' I heard that growing up my whole life.”

Michelle Obama To UN: Sesame Street Is "Best Thing I've Done So Far In White House" (Video)

This is how she represented her husband and America at the United Nations. Solid. Thanks Mrs. First Lady. As if President Obama hasn't made America look bad enough!

Strangely enough, I agree. This probably is the most productive thing accomplished so far by any Obama in the White House.

I take that back, I'm sure Sasha, Malia and Bo the First Puppy have outshined the 'rents in many ways. The kids and the dog are for more accomplished and honorable than Barack or Michelle.

That said, Michelle's appearance on "Sesame Street" is better than anything her husband has accomplished thus far.

Michelle Obama Over-Inflates Her Sphere of Influence: Being First Lady "Is a Really Good Job" (Video)

First lady Michelle Obama answered questions from students at bilingual charter schools during an event to celebrate Cinco de Mayo early.

Queen Elizabeth Spokesman: "First Lady Did Not Break Protocol" (Video)

My bad. Yesterday, I mocked Michelle Obama for her "etiquette hiccup" in touching the shoulder of Queen Elizabeth.

The British were outraged, so as an American with (thanfully) no interest or understanding of Royalty, took the British citizens for their word.

Today, Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying First Lady Michele Obama did not break protocol.

They site mutual affection and the informality of the occasion. My guess is that the Queen wanted to squash the idea that the First Lady did, in fact, commit a faux-pas.

Whatever. I still don't like Michelle. Up next: The White House statement stating that Queen Elizabeth did not break protocol by touching the "arse" of The Anointed One's wife.

VIDEO: Michelle Obama Growing Up Kids "would say 'ooh - you talk funny. you talk - like a white girl.'

The same day her husband mocked the Special Olympics, Michelle Obama gets racial.

The relevant remarks are at 1:40.

As a kid growing on the south side of Chicago, Michelle Obama remembers being ridiculed for trying to be educated and get good grades.

She added: "I was like, I don't even know what that means, but I'm still gettin' that "A".

Welcome To ObamaLand Author Slams Michelle Obama As The Racist She Is!

In an op/ed in the British Telegraph, James Delingpole, author of Welcome to Obamaland (a must read, by the way, tells us what to expect from Obama's socialist agenda from a man who experienced the same BS 1st hand under Tony Blair) just absolutely destroys First Lady Michelle Obama.

Trust me. This guy knows what he's talking about. Read the book and you'll understand. In fact, I've discussed this with several British citizens and they all say Delingpole is dead on with his assessment and predictions for Obama-merica.

That said, I truly value his opinion.

I have tried to avoid attacking the First Lady, mostly out of respect for her children, but the truth is clear. The facts speak for themselves.

Michelle Obama is a racist!

Delingpole's column:

On US radio's Garrison show today, I was asked for my reaction as a true born Englishman to President Obama's double insult - first the sending back of the Winston Churchill bust, then his snub to Gordon Brown. "Tough one. Really tough one," I said, torn - as most of surely are - between delight at seeing Brown roundly humiliated, and dismay at having the special relationship so peremptorily, cruelly and bafflingly ruptured.

Iain Martin is quite right here: no matter how utterly rubbish we have become as a nation in the Blair/Brown years, Britain's friendship is something Obama will come to regret having dispensed with so lightly. This was not the act of a global statesman, but of a hormonal teenager dismissing her bestest of best BFs for no other reason than that she felt like it and she can, so there.

What was the guy thinking? In researching my new book Welcome to Obamaland, I discovered that Obama's judgment is pretty dreadful - but this? My favourite theory so far - suggested by presenter Greg Garrison - was that it was a move calculated to please his Lady Macbeth. At the moment in Britain, we're still in the "Doesn't she look fabulous in a designer frock" stage of understanding of Michelle Obama. Gradually, though, we'll begin to realise that she is every bit the terrifying executive's wife that Hillary Clinton was. Or, shudder, Cherie Blair.

We may just LURVE Michelle's fashion sense. But Michelle doesn't reciprocate our affection, one bit. Her broad-brush view of history associates Brits with the wicked white global hegemony responsible for the slave trade. Never mind that a white, Tory Englishman - William Wilberforce - brought the slave trade to an end. Judging by her record, Michelle does not make room for such subtle nuance.

Consider her notorious statement that: "For the first time in my adult life I am really proud of my country." Consider her (till-recently suppressed) Princeton thesis, "Princeton Educated Blacks And The Black Community."
In it she writes: "I have found that at Princeton, no matter how liberal and open-minded some of my white professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really don't belong. Regardless of the circumstances underwhich I interact with whites at Princeton, it often seems as if, to them, I will always be black first and a student second."

Here we see that she has mastered the authentic voice of grievance culture. She also - the thesis was written in 1985 - pre-empts the Macpherson report's ludicrous, catch-all definition of racism: "A racist incident is any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person." No matter how hard young Michelle's white undergraduate contemporaries try to be nice, it's not their behaviour that counts, but how Michelle feels.

More worrying, though, and dangerous, than young Michelle's desperate quest for validation through victimhood is the other strain within her thesis. "As I enter my final year at Princeton," she writes. "I find myself striving for many of the same goals as my White classmates - acceptance to a prestigious graduate or professional school or a high paying position in a successful corporation. Thus, my goals at Princeton are not as clear as before."

"Yes, exactly, you silly girl" you want to shriek at young Michelle as you give her a good shake. "It's called 'opening your mind', 'broadening your experience', 'allowing youthful dogma to be shaped by reality.' It's why people go to university, don't you know?"

Michelle Obama's Fashion Hypocrisy; Social Secretary Wined and Dined In NYC

First Lady Michelle Obama is a hypocrite, just like her husband.

Social elite madness!

From Byron York at DC Examiner:

It didn't make most of the papers or the TV newscasts, but Desiree Rogers, the new White House social secretary, caused a bit of a stir recently when she appeared at New York's Fashion Week shows, sitting next to Vogue Editor Anna Wintour as she took in the latest from designers Carolina Herrera and Donna Karan.

"The fashions were amazing," Rogers told Women's Wear Daily. "I particularly liked the dresses for daytime that were a classic silhouette. ..." Besides Herrera and Karan, Rogers also attended a show by Marc Jacobs where, according to the New York Daily News, "fashion's baddest boy paraded punky, funky ponchos and razor-sharp shouldered jackets in Day-Glo metallics."

At first, it wasn't clear whether Rogers was hanging with the fashionistas as part of her official White House duties or not. Then New York magazine quoted a White House aide saying, "Desiree was in New York on a fact-finding mission. She's acting as a cultural liaison for the White House; she's researching fashion and music."

I called the White House to check if that quote was accurate. It was. An aide explained that first lady Michelle Obama "has taken a particular interest in showcasing the work of young up-and-coming designers who have chosen fashion as their path and who are artists in their own right and who are introduced at places like Fashion Week."

It's hard to put Herrera, Karan and Jacobs in the up-and-coming category, but never mind: Perhaps we'll be seeing punky, funky ponchos and Day-Glo metallics at some future White House function. I asked whether the first lady considered Rogers' hitting the fashion shows a little frivolous, given the seriousness of our times. "I think you're assigning a value judgment to the fashion industry," I was told. "She doesn't think it is frivolous at all."

The Obama White House stressed to me that Rogers did much more in New York than attend fashion shows. She had a full schedule — the aide wouldn't say exactly what it was — looking for new artists, musicians and other cultural figures who might take part in White House events.

Rogers was also treated to lunch at the chic Four Seasons by the interior decorator Michael Smith. You might have heard Smith's name because he was the man chosen by the now-departed Merrill Lynch Chief Executive Officer John Thain to handle Thain’s notorious $1.2 million office redecoration project. President Barack Obama condemned that sort of excess, but then hired none other than Michael Smith to spruce up the White House. And then Smith honored Rogers at the Four Seasons.

What makes all of this noteworthy, of course, is that it is taking place against the backdrop of widespread economic misery. As millions of Americans worry about losing their jobs, the first lady is celebrated on the cover of Wintour’s magazine, Vogue, where it is suggested that her "ardent championing of new names in American design" has caused some to call her the "new Jackie Kennedy."

Why not Nancy Reagan? Mrs. Reagan's husband also took office amid an inherited economic crisis, and she quickly became the subject of sometimes bitter criticism for her fondness for high fashion — for "exercising her opulent tastes in an economy that is inflicting hardship on so many," in the words of a 1981 New York Times article.

Now, in this economy that is inflicting hardship on so many, the first lady is celebrated for her new vision of haute couture, while her social secretary socializes with the most glamorous names in the world of fashion. Change has indeed come to Washington.

Michelle Obama On Tax Breaks, $400 Is Greater than $600

Yesterday we learned that President Obama's landmark "Making Work Pay" legislation in the CRAPulus bill will give every working adult $400... spread out over time to give each of a whopping $8 more per week.

Last year, we each got a one time check for $600. You don't need to be an economist to realize that $600 in one shot will do more to "jolt" an economy than $8/week.

Yes, I realize the Bush tax cuts were no panacea for the economic woes this country now faces, but let's at least be consistent in our rhetoric, you know?

Michelle Obama didn't think very much of President Bush's Economic Stimulus checks last year. The snobby elitist showed her true colors then, and how out of touch with America the Obamas really are.

The Washington Times reported last July:

Mrs. Obama said in Pontiac, Michigan, Wednesday that if her husband is elected he will offer more than a "quick fix" on the economy.

"You're getting $600 - what can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything, but maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn't pay down every bill every month," she said. "The short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good, and it may even feel good that first month when you get that check, and then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings."

Maybe $600 isn't much to the First Lady, but it's a lot to many people.

$8/week won't do much good for anyone.

The Obamas: "Just Tired Of Being In The White House"

Then leave, Mr. President. Seriously, quit if you don't like it. Take Biden and Pelosi with you. Please. It's ok.

And we thought we were the only ones "tired" of Obama being in the White House.

From Breitbart:

WASHINGTON (AP) - On the rockiest day of his young administration, President Barack Obama did what surely made him happy for a while. He left.

With little notice, the president and first lady Michelle Obama bolted the gated compound of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in their tank of a limousine on Tuesday.

They ended up at a Washington public school, greeted by children who could not care less about the collapse of a Cabinet secretary nomination.

"We were just tired of being in the White House," the president candidly told the gleeful second-graders at Capital City Public Charter School.

"We got out! They let us out!" Mrs. Obama said as the kids and their teachers laughed.

I'm just surprised the Associated Press actually took a shot at the "tank of a" Obama-sine!
