CNN Capitol Hill correspondent Lisa Desjardins does a live report from the National Mall in Washington on the day of a huge Taxpayer March or "tea party protest" against the government.

At the start of the interview, anchor Fredricka Whitfield "forewarns" the audience that there might be some yelling during the report.

Desjardins struggles to get through the interview in front of chants of "tell the truth" and "go home, CNN". After Whitfield asks Desjardins to "give it one more shot," the tea partyers start chanting Glenn Beck's name.

The brave reporter then attempts to ask the protesters a question: "What do you think of Congressman Joe Wilson?" The crowd reacts with applause, then starts chanting, "Way to go, Joe."

When asked by John King to comment on Rush Limbaugh's "racism" comments of Sonia Sotomayor, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says: "I've got better things to do than be the speech police over people who will have their views" on the nomination.

It sounds to me like King was trying to bait McConnell into (a) attacking Rush and Newt Gingrich and (b) trying to say he agreed that Sotomayor was a racist.

McConnell did neither and refused to get stuck in King's spider web.

CNN caught up with Bill Clinton at a campaign event for Terry McAuliffe in Virginia. They asked Clinton about former Vice President Dick Cheney's ongoing criticism of President Obama.

"I wish him well. It's over. But I do hope he gets some more target practice before he goes out again," replied Clinton.

What? Is he simply mocking Cheney, or is this a veiled message indicating that he hopes Cheney continues to attack Obama. That is, he hopes the "target practice" is Obama's screw ups that would lead to Hillary Clinton being able to run again for President in 2012! Hmmm.....

Alberto Cutié (born circa 1969 in Puerto Rico), better known as Padre Alberto, is a Roman Catholic priest who has become a recognizable name due to his television and radio programs. Born in Puerto Rico to parents of Cuban ancestry, Cutié began his foray into the media at an early age. He started to work as a deejay during his adolescence. While his passion for radio was great, it was not greater than his devotion to his faith, which eventually led to his ordination as a Catholic priest. He was ordained as a Catholic priest for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami in 1995. He is the first Catholic priest to host a secular talk show both on radio and television. He is also a regular columnist whose writings appear in many Spanish newspapers throughout the United States and Latin America.

Cutié attracted great fame with his television debut in 1999 as the host of Padre Alberto (also known as "Cambia tu Vida con el Padre Alberto"), a daily talk show televised on the Telemundo network. After the show was cancelled, he later served as host of the weekly program "America en Vivo" on Telemundo International.

Since 2002, Cutié has continued to host a weekly talk program called, "Hablando Claro con el Padre Alberto", which reaches millions of households throughout the United States, Canada, Spain and Latin America for EWTN en español, which is part of the global network founded by Mother Angelica. In July 2003 he officiated at Celia Cruz's funeral mass in Miami.[1]

Cutié also published his first self-help book, "Real Life, Real Love" ( "Ama de Verdad, Vive de Verdad" ) in January 2006. It sold thousands of copies and was a bestseller in the Spanish language market.

Cutié has often been called Father Oprah by various publications such as Newsweek. Presently he is President and General Director of Radio Paz and Radio Peace Catholic 24-hour radio stations. The Rev. Alberto Cutié, a national figure with movie star looks, was removed from his Miami Beach church Tuesday after photographs appeared in a magazine showing him frolicking with a woman in the sand on a Florida beach.

A wildly popular Catholic priest, newspaper columnist and radio and television personality, Cutié will no longer run operations or say Sunday Mass at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Word of Cutié's punishment came during a brief news conference in front of a small gathering of reporters at the Archdiocese of Miami headquarters on Biscayne Boulevard in Miami Shores.

''The vow of celibacy is part of the ordination,'' said spokeswoman Mary Ross Agosta. "A man who is a priest is able to totally focus on the church.''

Earlier in the day, Cutié spoke with Archbishop John C. Favalora, who said that the pictures of Cutié and the woman saddened him.

''Father Cutié's actions cannot be condoned despite the good works he has done as a priest,'' Favalora said in a statement. "I ask for everyone's prayers at this time.''

Cutié also released a brief one-paragraph note, thanking those who support him and asking for the forgiveness of those who may be hurt or saddened by my actions.''

Glenn Beck Responds To CNN's Rick Sanchez Over Comments Blaming Fox News For Gun Violence (Audio)

Earlier this week, CNN's Rick Sanchez accused Fox News [Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly] of creating an environment of fear and distrust that has led to a surge in gun violence, in particular tying last week's Pittsburgh shooting to "Fox News and right wing radio."

On Beck's radio show Thursday, Beck and staff lashed out against Sanchez, calling Sanchez "the one guy who shouldn't accuse other people of being responsible for murder" over his 1990 drunk driving incident, in which Sanchez struck a pedestrian who would be paralyzed and later die from injuries sustained in the accident.

The selection was one of the White House's most tightly kept secrets.

President Barack Obama's daughters, 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha, picked a black and white pup, a White House official speaking on the condition of anonymity told The Associated Press Saturday night.

The dog is a gift from Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., who owns several Portuguese water dogs himself.

"We couldnt be happier to see the joy that Bo is bringing to Malia and Sasha," Kennedy said in a statement. "We love our Portuguese water dogs and know that the girls — and their parents — will love theirs, too."

The Washington Post reported in its online editions Saturday night that Obama's daughters chose the name Bo for the pup because first lady Michelle Obama's father was nicknamed Diddley. The name for the dog was an apparent reference to the singer "Bo" Diddley.

We have lots of exclusive details on the Portuguese Water Dog President Barack Obama and Michelle are getting for Sasha and Malia. The pooch will make its grand entrance on Tuesday, and it's coming from a prominent Texas kennel, with the help of Senator Ted Kennedy's family.

The black dog -- a male -- is approximately six months old. We've learned it was bred at the kennel and sold to someone who gave it back. The kennel is now "re-homing" the dog to the Obamas. The dog was named Charlie, but the Obamas will rename it.

Now here's where the Kennedys come into play. The kennel has sold the Kennedys three Portuguese Water Dogs in the past, all from the same lineage. The dog the Obamas will be getting is from the same lineage as the Kennedy dogs. The Kennedy family will be presenting the new dog to the Obamas, but it's really coming from the kennel.

The reason this all sounds so technical is that there are issues regarding gifts to the Prez. The fact that the pup is being re-homed makes it all kosher.

Arizona State University Reconsidering Obama Honorary Degree, Does Not Meet Criteria (Video)

UPDATE: Arizona State University will still not give President Obama an Honorary Degree, instead it will name Scholarship after him.



Arizona St. has decided against awarding Obama an honorary degree because "his body of work" has yet to come and that he does not meet their criteria of "a way to acknowledge people for their contributions to society."

And to think, I didn't think Obama was qualified to be President! Turns out he's not even qualified to receive a bogus Honorary Degree!

Wolf Blitzer claims that recent ASU honorees have "given the University a lot of money".

POLITICO reports:

Michael M. Crow, president of Arizona State University, tells POLITICO that the school is reconsidering its widely mocked plans not to give President Barack Obama an honorary degree when he speaks at commencement on May 13 and will “honor him in every way possible.”

“There was no intended slight,” Crow said by telephone from his office in Tempe. “We had not yet talked about what honors we might give him as our commencement speaker, and we still have a month to work all that out. We don’t want anyone to think we do not recognize what he has achieved and what he means in America.”

A formal decision has not been made, but it was clear from Crow's comments that the university is headed in that direction. ASU risked becoming a national punch line if it did not quickly retreat from its policy against conferring honorary degrees on a
sitting politician.

Past recipients of ASU honorary degrees included an aloe-vera magnate, the director of "Victor Victoria," a Chinese official, a Canadian politician, and lots of donors and fundraisers.

Four days after addressing ASU, Obama will give the commencement address at Notre Dame, which is conferring an honorary degree despite some local criticism of the choice of speaker.
