Joe the Plumber to Become Joe the War Correspondant

Samuel J. Wurzelbacher says he'll spend 10 days covering the fighting in Gaza and Israel for conservative website Pajamas TV.

From PJTV.com.

"Pajamas TV reports from the US and from Israel on the conflict, Israeli politics, the impact on Israelis, and on media bias.
... breaking news ... Joe the Plumber goes to Israel to cover the Gaza War for Pajamas TV... "

He tells WNWO-TV in Toledo that he wants to let Israel's "'Average Joes' share their story."

“If given the opportunity to do some good however minute it may be, or could be something really good, you gotta take that chance. You have to do it,” says Joe Wurzelbacher.

Wurzelbacher will travel to Israel to report for the conservative website, pjtv.com. He intends to get the, often lost, Israeli reason for the offensive against Hamas.

"It's tragic, I mean it really is. I don't say that in any little way. It's very tragic, but at the same time what are the Israeli people suppose to do," says Wurzelbacher.

The 10-day journey hopes to answer that question, by talking with Israeli citizens without a politically correct filter.

"I get to go over there and let their “Average Joes” share their story, what they think, how they feel, especially with world opinion, maybe get a real story out there,” says Wurzelbacher.

Really?
Come on. Enough with this guy already. Seriously.
Stop it. We mean it. Enough

Ooopsy!...Funds Connect Obama With Richardson Pay-to-Play Scandal!

ABC News is reporting that Barack Obama has financial ties to David Rubin, a central figure in the Bill Richardson "pay-to-play" scandal which forced him to withdraw himself from consideration for Commerce Secretary.

President-elect Barack Obama took big money from a man at the center of a federal probe that has forced one of Obama's top Cabinet picks to withdraw.

Financial records show the Obama campaign got more than $30,000 from California financier David Rubin, the target of an investigation into donations and possible "pay-to-play" deals involving New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, Obama's pick for commerce secretary.

In late September, Rubin attended an exclusive Los Angeles fundraiser for Obama, held at the Beverly Hills' Greystone Mansion. Attendees gave tens of thousands of dollars which the campaign split between its own coffers, the Democratic National Committee and state-level campaign groups supporting Obama and Democratic candidates. The technique helps campaigns take in from individuals far more than the $2,300 maximum they are allowed to give to a single campaign fund.

Yawn! Why are we not surprised?

Ann Coulter Gets Last Word/Conservative Author Finally Gets Her Day at NBC

Ann Coulter appeared on NBC's "Today Show", the Atlanta Journal-Consitution writes:

"I am like Roland Burris. I have been turned away, but I’m back,” Coulter said. Topics include her use of B. Hussein Obama to describe the president-elect, and single motherhood as the source of “almost any” societal ill outside of Alaska.

WARNING: The video is 9 minutes long.

Ms. Coulter herself responded to the soap opera on her own site.

After NBC canceled me "for life" on Monday -- until seven or eight hours later when the ban was splashed across the top of The Drudge Report, forcing a red-faced NBC to withdraw the ban -- an NBC insider told The Drudge Report: "We are just not interested in anyone so highly critical of President-elect Obama, right now," explaining that "it's such a downer. It's just not the time, and it's not what our audience wants, either."

In point of fact, I'm not particularly critical of Obama in my new book. I'm critical of the media for behaving like a protection racket for Obama rather than the constitutionally protected guardians of our liberty that they claim to be. So I think what the NBC insider meant to say is that NBC is not interested in anyone so highly critical of NBC right now. It's such a downer, it's just not the time, and it's not what their audience wants right now, either.

First the Porn Bailout and Now The Housing Builders Bailout

As if it's not bad enough that Larry Flynt wants a bailout for the Adult Entertainment Industry, now one of the nation's largest trade associations wants money to deliver them from their own economic shortcomings and mismanagement.

From the AP via Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

With lawmakers angling to pass an economic recovery package by the middle of next month, desperate homebuilders from around the country flew to Washington to spend Wednesday pushing a $150 billion plan to revive the housing market.

Builders want a package of subsidies that would bring mortgage rates to just under 3 percent for the first half of this year. They also favor a tax credit of up to $22,000 for home purchases.

Jerry Howard, chief executive of The National Association of Home Builders, appeared today on Fox News' "Your World With Neil Cavuto".

Everyone From Castro to Hugo Chavez to Former Saddam Hussein Top Aide Are Lining Up to Meet With Obama/More Dangerous Foreign Policy

Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, a top aide to Saddam Hussein and Leader of the Iraqi Baath Party following Saddam's execution, said he would "enter a dialogue" with President-Elect Obama if the Commander-in-Chief-to-Be will withdrawal from Iraq.

The news comes just a day after Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said he would like to accept Obama's offer to meet "without preconditions".

Reuter's is reporting:

DUBAI (Reuters) - A former aide to Saddam Hussein said in an audio tape aired on Tuesday that Israel would not have dared to launch its current attack on Gaza if the Iraqi leader was still in power.

But Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, the most senior member of the past regime still at large, said on the recording broadcast by Al Jazeera television that Iraqi insurgents would negotiate with Washington if the administration of president-elect Barack Obama withdrew from Iraq.

"The barbaric ... attack on our (Arab) people in Gaza is the natural result of the absence of Iraq, its national leadership and its leader ... the martyr Saddam Hussein," said Ibrahim, a leader of Iraqi insurgents.

Saddam, executed in 2006 after being deposed by a U.S.-led invasion in 2003, had launched missiles at Israel in 1991 during a war with the United States.

"We are with you on the battlefield ... and Gaza shall be victorious, God permitting," he said. The television did not say how it obtained the recording and its authenticity could not be verified.

Ibrahim also addressed Obama, whose opposition to the Iraq war was a major part of his election campaign, but who has also said he wants a responsible withdrawal.

"If you withdraw fully from Iraq and leave it to its people, free and independent, we will enter a dialogue with you immediately to set up the widest strategic relations with America," Ibrahim said, adding that Washington had "legitimate strategic interests" in Iraq and the region.

This news comes just a day after Top al-Qaeda Chieft Ayman al-Zawahiri all but blamed Obama for the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

From CNN:

An audio message attributed to Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, the highest ranking former member of Saddam Hussein's regime still at large, salutes the "People of Palestine" and calls on them to fight back against Israel in Gaza.

"We say to the people of Gaza, give more resistance and we will be with you in the field, and know that our victory in kicking out the invaders is your victory as well, because the main assailant on the nation and on Palestine is the American imperialism," the recording said.

"A salute to the martyrs of the massacre, and our condolences to their families."

Al-Douri's recording follows reports of a similarly defiant message from al Qaeda's deputy chief a day earlier. Ayman al-Zawahiri reportedly vowed revenge for Israel's air and ground assault on Gaza and called Israel's actions against Hamas militants "a
gift" from U.S. President-elect Barack Obama
.

Castro also accepted Obama's invitation last month when he agreed with the President-Elect on his views of closing the US Military Facility on Guantanamo Bay.

According to (actor Sean) Penn, Raúl Castro told him, "Perhaps we could meet at Guantanamo. We must meet and begin to solve our problems, and at the end of the meeting, we could give the president a gift. ... We could send him home with the American flag that waves over Guantanamo Bay."

All this on top of the probable nomination of Leon "No Intel Experience" Panetta and Janet "no credentials when it comes to security, national security issues, military or law enforcement" Napolitano.

This leaves us with Diplomat-in-Chief Hillary "Centrist Uniter" Clinton as our best hope in bringing sensible foreign policy to the Obama Administration?

Bailouts Gone Wild! Hustler's Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild Petition Congress for Cash"Americans Can Do Without Cars But They Cannot Do Without Sex"

See! See what this is all leading to! Oh the humanity!

FOX Business has this, sad, but true story.

With the financial industry, auto makers and more getting assistance from the federal government to stay afloat during the recession, the adult industry decided it would try to get something as well.

Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis and “Hustler” magazine publisher Larry Flynt have said they will petition Congress for financial aid along the lines of what the Big Three auto makers are getting.

Francis said that he and Flynt are asking for $5 billion, and that they have sent letters to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, Congress and their local Congressman, Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) with the proposal.

With the $5 billion, they would "invest in building new means of distribution, and shoring up our distribution right now to prevent further erosion from factors like Youporn and other Internet content that has seriously affected our business over the past few years," Francis said in an interview with FOX Business. "We will use the money wisely, and we will create more jobs."

Francis said that if invited, he and Flynt would drive across the country in a hybrid vehicle to present their plans to Congress.

The press release noted that DVD sales and rentals for the adult industry have decreased by 22% in the past year, partially because people are turning more and more to the Internet for adult content.

"People are too depressed to be sexually active," Flynt said in the press release. "This is very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex."

Francis said he and Flynt would also be willing to discuss the possibility of the government buying equity stakes in their companies, as was done with financial firms.

"If the government would like to be a partner with Mr. Flynt and I, we’re certainly amenable to it," he said.

Somebody make it stop.

Can We Trust Obama's "Transparency" and "Ban on All Earmarks"? Or Will Obama's "Stimulus" Become Synonymous with "Pork"?

Obama said on Tuesday that he promised to set "new higher standard of accountability, transparency and oversight. We are going to ban all earmarks, the process by which individual members insert projects without review" at a press conference.

We absolutely endorse and support this effort, particularly in light of Obama's potential $1 TRILLION economic "stimulus" package.

We agree with Citizens Against Government Waste :

The nation’s premier taxpayer watchdog group, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today expressed support for President elect Obama’s goals to increase transparency and accountability in the executive branch and encouraged him to stand firm on his promise not to allow Congress to festoon the impending stimulus package with pork-barrel projects.

"Mr. Obama’s rhetoric is very encouraging. However, he will be inheriting a congressional budgeting system that promotes excessive spending and which has proved challenging to prior Presidential efforts at reform,” said CAGW President Tom Schatz. “His efforts to lay down a marker on congressional earmarking in the stimulus bill deserve the taxpayers’ support.”

Last month, ConservativeXpress (Obama's Pork: Government at Its (Un)Finest) described the dangers of allowing Obama's request to mayors around the nation to compile "shovel-ready" projects worthy of government funding. The final report, "The Mainstreet Recovery Ready to Go Infrastructure Project".

The Wall Street Journal also reported on the recovery bill last month.

President-elect Obama's transition team is promising that its $700 billion, or $850 billion, or $1 trillion, or whatever it now is "stimulus" won't include pork-barrel spending. They must not have talked to the nation's mayors, who recently responded to Mr. Obama's request to compile their priority list of "shovel-ready" projects.

By all accounts, the $73 billion wish list may be the largest collection of parochial spending projects in American history. Strolling through the 800 pages, we found such beauties as: $1 million to upgrade the Los Angeles County Convention Center elevated "catwalk" for cameras and lighting; $350,000 for an Albuquerque, N.M., fitness center; $94 million for a parking garage at the Orange Bowl in Miami; $4.5 million for Gretna, Florida, to bottle water with recyclable bottles; a $35 million music hall of fame in Florissant, Missouri, and $3.1 million for a swimming pool in Tulsa.

Oh, and desperate Santa Barbara, Calif., respectfully requests $80,000 for a tennis facility; Savannah, Georgia, would like to build a children's museum; Ventura, Calif., wants $6 million to renovate the beach at Surfers Point, and Durham, N.C., home of the Durham Bulls, wants to construct the first Minor League Baseball Hall of Fame. Dayton, Ohio, wants $1.5 million to reduce prostitution with education programs, and Ponce, Puerto Rico wants $5.7 million to improve its cruise ship terminal (which will create all of 60 jobs). We could go on.
Let's not be fooled into believing that Obama and Congress think they pull this over our eyes, simply buy calling it "stimulus". Obama wants to create jobs through this giant program and we're having a difficult time seeing how this es any different than any other wasteful government program.

As Michelle Bachmann warned yesterday at Townhall:

The Democrats are actually rewriting the rules to make it easier to spend your money and harder to cut your taxes.

Their rewrite of the “pay-as-you-go” rule includes a provision to tax and entitlement bills to be “packaged” together for purposes of calculating PAYGO compliance. This insulates their proposals from having to stand against Republican alternatives and makes it easier to circumvent rules that are supposed to keep Congress from running the federal balance sheets into the red.

Furthermore, the rewrite of the PAYGO rule allows for “emergency” designation of spending. It allows anyone to designate spending as “emergency,” exempting it entirely from PAYGO enforcement. The emergency designation isn’t even debatable.

This Rules Package is anything but open and transparent and creates an express lane for Democrats to tax and spend your money with nothing and no one to stop them.

Hold onto your wallets!

Judicial Watch Files Lawsuit Against the Senate for Denying to Seat Burris

JudicialWatch.org has issued the following statement:

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it is filing a lawsuit on behalf of an Illinois resident against the United States Senate for denying former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris his rightful position as the junior Senator from Illinois. In accordance with the U.S. Constitution and Illinois state law, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich appointed Burris to fill the Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama. Nonetheless, at the direction of Senate leaders, Secretary of the Senate Nancy Erikson rejected Mr. Burris' appointment and has denied him entry to the U.S. Senate. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of John Vincent, a longtime Illinois resident. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and names as defendants the United States Senate, and its Secretary and Sergeant At Arms.

According to the 17th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, a state's governor, with authority from the legislature, may appoint a Senator in the event of a vacancy. Illinois law specifically states: "When a vacancy shall occur in the office of the United States Senator from this state, the Governor shall make temporary appointment to fill such vacancy until the next election of representatives in Congress, at which time such vacancy shall be filled by election, and the senator so elected shall take office as soon thereafter as he shall receive his certificate of election."

Moreover, according to Judicial Watch's lawsuit: "The U.S. Constitution guarantees Plaintiff the right to representation by two U.S. Senators in the U.S. Senate... [Therefore, the U.S. Senate's] refusal to allow Mr. Burris to be sworn in as the junior U.S. Senator from the State of Illinois and to otherwise occupy his rightful position as member of the U.S. Senate violates the U.S. Constitution."

"Blagojevich may be a crook but the Burris appointment is consistent with the law and must be respected. The Senate has no legal authority to deny Mr. Burris his rightful position in the U.S. Senate. The citizens of Illinois are entitled to full representation in the United State Senate," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "Few have been more critical of Blagojevich than Judicial Watch, but the law is the law."

For several years, Judicial Watch has investigated the corrupt activities of Blagojevich, who was arrested on December 9, 2008 for attempting to "sell" the Obama seat, among other corruption charges. On Thursday, December 18, 2008, Judicial Watch Director of Litigation Paul Orfanedes testified before Illinois House Special Investigative Committee considering impeachment of Governor Blagojevich.

Burris: "No Pay to Play Was Involved Because I Don't Have Any Money"; New Report Sheds Light on Burris/Blagojevich Money Trail

Fox news is reporting:

Roland Burris has denied having any relationship with disgraced Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, but a close examination of his record raises new questions about his claim.

MyFOXChicago.com reports that Burris -- the former Illinois attorney general who has been appointed by Blagojevich to fill President-elect Barack Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat -- held a 2006 fundraiser for the governor at his home.

Burris and his lobbying firm also donated $22,295 to Blagojevich's campaign, according to MyFOXChicago.com.

Over the past four years, Burris' lobbying firm reportedly won $705,435 in state contracts. And Burris' longtime lobbying partner Fred Lebed is a board member of the Christian Industrial League -- the same group that hired Blagojevich's wife Patricia.

Lebed has denied having any involvement in the hiring of the governor's wife. "I first learned about her after her appointment -- her being on contract I think a day or two after she was hired," Lebed told MyFOXChicago.com.

"There's absolutely, unequivocally, no conflict of interest whatsoever," he said.

The Chicago Sun Times adds some more insight into Burris' lack of judgement and true motivation.

Burris should have shown the citizens in Illinois the same consideration (that Bill Richardson showed in withdrawling his nomination for a Cabinet Post).

As the state's longtime former comptroller and also former state attorney general, Burris made a name for himself in Illinois.

But on the national stage, Burris is a nobody who will arrive in Washington looking like an opportunist rather than a statesman.

As a result of the controversy, it will be difficult for Burris to be an effective voice for Illinois.

But that's not why I find this whole episode so distasteful.

The man who once claimed to be outraged by the rank pay-to-play politics isn't the man who is going to Washington.

The man who is going to Washington is the ultimate political insider who is acting in his self-interest.

I believe Burris genuinely doesn't get why anyone would think he is doing anything wrong.

The fact that he doesn't shows how badly Illinois needs change.

The end result? Burris will be seated and Harry Reid, Barack Obama and others will have failed their first test of "Change" and "Hope". They have allowed an embatteld Blago to control Washington insiders with puppet strings from his home in Illinois.

Senate to Seat Burris After All!...No, Wait...Just Kidding. Sen Feinstein Breaks with Dems Again!

The AP reported earlier this morning that Senate Democrats would seat Roland Burris.

However, it's now clear that no deal has been made and the AP was just kidding. Turns out, even Illinois Secretary of State says his signature is not required to Burris to be seated. Fox news reports:

Reid, who met in the morning with Burris and Illinois' senior senator, Dick Durbin, said in a press conference afterward that Secretary of State Jesse White's signature is needed in order to certify Burris' appointment to fill the seat.
"We've had a rule in effect since 1884 in the Senate that for a person to be appointed by the governor, you have to have a signature from the governor and the secretary of state," Reid told reporters during a news conference.
But White said Wednesday that his signature is not required for the Senate to confirm Burris.
"They could have seated him without my signature. My signature is not required," White told WGN-720AM.
"My signature is mostly ceremonial, rather than a point of law," he said.
The Burris drama took a new twist Wednesday morning when the Associated Press reported that Senate Democrats were ready to accept him to fill the vacant seat.
But a spokesman for Reid denied the report, telling FOX News, "There are various options on the table."
Even Obama is joining the backtracking party!
"This is a Senate matter. But I know Roland Burris, obviously; he's from my home state. I think he's a fine public servant. If he gets seated then I'm going to work with Roland Burris, just like I work with all the other senators," Obama said at a press conference at his transition headquarters.
Dianne Feinstein, a potential California 2010 Gubernatorial candidate, once again broke from party ranks. She wants to seat him.

"Does the governor have the power, under law, to make the appointment? And the answer is yes," Feinstein said, urging the Senate to settle the matter. "If you don't seat Mr. Burris, it has ramifications for gubernatorial appointments all over America. ... Mr. Burris is a senior, experienced politician."
The comments flew in the face of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's assertion that Burris should not be seated in part because the move would be tainted by the Blagojevich scandal. Feinstein's stance is the latest sign of intra-party tensions over the matter.
Looks like Blago wins!

Joe Biden Sounds Off Again. Says "We're at War" with Economy!

From Politico:

Vice-president-elect Joe Biden likened the country’s economic crisis to the attacks of 9/11 Monday in a private meeting on Capitol Hill.“We’re at war,” Biden told congressional leaders of both parties during their sit-down with Barack Obama in the Capitol, according to two sources familiar with the exchange.

A little harsh, no?

In a different post, Poltico adds this about the Vice President-Elect of foot-in-mouth disease:

Joe Biden hasn’t said much in public since the election, but one of Washington’s most prolific talkers is back – and making news whenever he speaks.

In fewer than five minutes on Tuesday, Biden criticized his own incoming Obama administration and disclosed information his aides have kept secret for security reasons.

And on Monday, Biden declared, “We’re at war!” and compared the economic turmoil to 9/11. Team Obama kept Biden under wraps immediately after the election, but with his Senate swearing-in and upcoming Iraq trip, he’s back in front of the microphones.

Chatting with reporters after he was sworn in for a seventh term in the Senate, Biden called it “a mistake” that the Obama transition selected Leon Panetta as CIA director without consulting the Senate intelligence committee.

"I'm still a Senate man and I always think this way. I think it's always good to talk to the requisite members of Congress," Biden said. “I think it was just a mistake."

Biden then went on to reveal the key stops on his upcoming overseas trip with a Senate delegation – without even being asked. “This will be my God-knows-how-many trips, I guess my 10th or 11th trip into Iraq and I don’t know how many times in Afghanistan and Pakistan,” Biden told reporters who had questioned him about what he expects to accomplish on his South Asia trip.

Just yesterday Biden’s Senate office took care to conceal these destinations, declaring in news release announcing his travels: “For security reasons, details of the delegation's itinerary will be released as the trip progresses.”

Barack sure knows how to pick 'em! At least Biden will help the Administration with its promise of "transparency".

Obama Picks "Sexy" CNN Reporter to Be Surgeon General

Dr. McDreamy...sigh.

CNN Medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta has been asked by Obama to be the next Surgeon General of the US.
In 2003, he was named one of PEOPLE magazine's "Sexiest Men Alive" and a "pop culture icon" by USA Today. Huh?

From Fox News:
Gupta hosts "House Call" on CNN, contributes reports to CBS News and writes a column for Time magazine. He is a neurosurgeon and is on the faculty at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. During the Clinton administration, he was a White House fellow and special adviser to then-first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton.

His resume is highlighted by disagreeing with Michael Moore (thankfully) about nationalized health care and Moore's documentary "Sicko".

Mary-Katherine Ham has these other nice things to say about Gupta:
In his popular special series, "Chasing Life," he treated with sensitivity the desires of older Americans to use drugs like Human Growth Hormone to improve their quality of life as their natural levels drop. Many health reporters would have opted for knee-jerk condemnation without examining the pros and cons of suchcontroversial self-medication.

In the absolutist world of smoking commentary, Gupta is a breath of fresh air, so to speak. In a 2005 column about smoking and lung cancer, he made a medically accurate but rarely uttered assessment about smokers's risk of lung cancer: "But, if you quit at the age of 30, it's almost a negligible increased risk."

His CNN bio also contains valuable information relevant to his qualifications to be Obama's Surgeon General.
During the 2008 presidential campaign year, Gupta reported extensively on the campaign, including the documentaries “First Patient” and “Fit to Lead” about the toll that the nation’s highest office takes on the health of the commander-in-chief and the health of the presidential candidates.

Celebrity POTUS picks celebrity for Cabinet. At least it's not Dr. Phil.

But that's probably because Dr. Phil didn't work for Clinton. Just saying...

Obama's Economic Policy and Socialism; Would Karl Marx Be Proud?

From Liberty Zone:

The 10 PLANKS stated in the Communist Manifesto and some of their American counterparts are...
1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes.

Americans do these with actions such as the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes. Also the Bureau of Land Management (Zoning laws are the first step to government property ownership)

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

Americans know this as misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933; and various State "income" taxes. We call it "paying your fair share".

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

Americans call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.

Americans call it government seizures, tax liens, Public "law" 99-570(1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process. Asset forfeiture laws are used by DEA, IRS, ATF etc...).

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.

Americans call it the Federal Reserve which is a privately-owned credit/debt system allowed by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) another privately-owned corporation. The Federal Reserve Banks issue Fiat Paper Money and practice economically destructive fractional reserve banking.

6. Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the hands of the State.

Americans call it the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in 1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, and Executive orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated driver's licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

Americans call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The Department of
Agriculture… Thus read "controlled or subsidized" rather than "owned"… This is easily seen in these as well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.

8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

Americans call it Minimum Wage and slave labor like dealing with our Most Favored Nation trade partner; i.e. Communist China. We see it in practice via the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of population over the country.

Americans call it the Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning(Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136. These provide for forced relocations and forced sterilization programs, like in China.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.

Americans are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, but are actually "government force-tax-funded schools " Even private schools are government regulated. The purpose is to train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based "Education".

These are used so that all children can be indoctrinated and inculcated with the government propaganda, like "majority rules", and "pay your fair share". WHERE are the words "fair share" in the Constitution, Bill of Rights or the Internal Revenue Code (Title 26)?? NO WHERE is "fair share" even suggested !! The philosophical concept of "fair share" comes from the Communist maxim, "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need! This concept is pure socialism.

See more on Obama's "Tax Cuts" which are merely welfare and redistribution on wealth. Socialism. Communism. Enemies to free market.

Obama's Intel Strategy: Necessary "Clean Break" From Bush Policy or Danger to National Security? Is He Putting Americans at Risk?

President-Elect Obama campaigned on his differences with the Bush Administration and he certainly has the right and responsibility to spend his political capital in establishing his Administration.

Yet, with his expected nomination of Leon Panetta to head the CIA, is Obama's determination to be the the anti-Bush putting America's National Security at Risk?

Panetta wrote last year in Washington Monthly:

According to the latest polls, two-thirds of the American public believes that torturing suspected terrorists to gain important information is justified in some circumstances. How did we transform from champions of human dignity and individual rights into a nation of armchair torturers? One word: fear.

Fear is blinding, hateful, and vengeful. It makes the end justify the means. And why not? If torture can stop the next terrorist attack, the next suicide bomber, then what's wrong with a little waterboarding or electric shock?

We cannot simply suspend these (Constitutional) beliefs in the name of national security. Those who support torture may believe that we can abuse captives in certain select circumstances and still be true to our values. But that is a false compromise. We either believe in the dignity of the individual, the rule of law, and the prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment, or we don't. There is no middle ground.

We cannot and we must not use torture under any circumstances. We are better than that.

In a similar article, last Spring's Monterey Herald, Panetta writes:

Fear exacts a terrible toll on our democracy. Five years ago, America went to war in Iraq over the false fear that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

Even though we now know that there were intelligence officials who questioned the assertion, few leaders were willing to challenge this argument for war because they knew it might undermine public support for the president's decision to invade Iraq.

More recently, President Bush vetoed a law that would require the CIA and all the intelligence services to abide by the same rules on torture as contained in the U.S. Army Field Manual.

The president says the rules are too restrictive, implying that the use of some forms of torture just could help avoid another Sept. 11. But all forms of torture have long been prohibited by American law and international treaties respected by Republican and Democratic presidents alike.

Panetta's assertion that CIA officials and agents use the same standards as a military Privates is naive, outrageous and simply dangerous.

Yes, Mr. Panetta and Mr. Obama, the war on terror is complicated. National Security is well beyond the scope of Obama's knowledge and Americans failed to acknowledge this weakness when they voted for him.

More from Newsbusters.org:

Now, if George W. Bush had picked such an inexperienced man for any government position much less one at cabinet level, the media would have crucified him -- in fact, it did if you recount the Harriet Meyers for SCOTUS debacle. So, in "Obama's intel picks short on direct experience" does the Associated Press scoff at the pick? Do they lambast Obama for picking such a completely unqualified man for CIA in a day when we are besieged on all sides by enemies from whom our ability to gather intelligence is a major weapon of protection? Do they decry this pick of a man with not even the tiniest amount of experience for one of the most delicate and important positions of the day?

Nope. In fact, the AP celebrates it as some sort of proof that Obama made this pick to show he is making a "clean break from Bush administration." A clean break? How is picking a man with no experience with the intelligence or law enforcement communities to be the new head of the CIA any kind of proof that Obama is breaking with Bush?

While no one doubts Panetta's general political knowledge and management style, he is simply NOT qualified to run the CIA. If Obama is so impressed with Panetta's resume, certainly there would be a more suitable Cabinet that better suits Panetta's strengths.

The President-Elect told reporters today:
I have the utmost respect for Leon Panetta. I think that he is one of the finest public servants that we have. He brings extraordinary management skills, great political savvy, an impeccable record of integrity.

As chief of staff, he is somebody who - to the president - he's somebody who obviously was fully versed in international affairs, crisis management, and had to evaluate intelligence consistently on a day -to-day basis.

The Associated Press article states:

President-elect Barack Obama's decision to fill the nation's top intelligence jobs with two men short on direct experience in intelligence gathering surprised the spy community and signaled the Democrat's intention for a clean break from Bush administration policies.
And Newsweek explains other motives for the so-called "clean break":

In the weeks following his election victory, Obama was widely expected to appoint as his CIA chief John Brennan, a former top CIA and counter terrorism official who is co-chair of the committee reviewing intelligence policy issues for the president-elect's transition team.

But Brennan withdrew his name from consideration as CIA chief after he was slammed by bloggers for public statements he made defending the CIA's involvement in controversial counterterrorism operations, including rough interrogations which Bush administration critics and human-rights advocates described as torture.

The Brennan controversy cast a cloud over Obama's efforts to find a new CIA chief (though sources say that Obama decided some time ago on Admiral Blair, who was not involved with controversial Bush interrogation policies, as his new intelligence czar).

The current CIA chief, retired Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden, signaled that he wouldn't mind being asked to stay on for a time. But critics noted that Hayden, like Brennan, had publicly defended the Bush administration’s counterterror activities, including CIA interrogation policies (which Hayden himself had little to do with) and warrantless wiretapping by the National Security Agency (a program that Hayden, as NSA director, helped to create after 9/11). As a senator, Obama had voted against Hayden's confirmation.

The AP Article added:
Obama is sending an unequivocal message that controversial administration policies approving harsh interrogations, waterboarding and extraordinary renditions -- the secret transfer of prisoners to other governments with a history of torture -- and warrantless wiretapping are over, said several officials.

Newsbusters explains this logic:
So, the solution to Brennan not being "outspoken enough" against torture is to pick Panetta who has uttered barely a word about torture at all? What sense does that even make? Why isn't this lapse in Obama's logic a cause for the AP to throw a dig at the Obammessiah?

From Newsweek:
Last week, word began to circulate on the spy grapevine that Obama was looking to fill the CIA director's job with a highly respected senior figure with extensive government experience who had no spy-world baggage but would likely sail through the confirmation process. In Panetta, the president-elect probably found a candidate who fits those specifications, though reservations are already being expressed among intelligence experts about the nominee's lack of expertise in what some have called the world's second oldest profession--spying.

Panetta is an honest and smart politician, yet his lack of intelligence experience puts American Security at risk. The CIA position does not lend itself to on-the-job training. Obama's policy of scaling back counter-terrorism may indeed lend reality to Joe Biden's prophesy of Obama being "tested" within 6 months.

Roland Burris Blocked By Senate; May Seek Legal Action, Bobby Rush Plays Race Card...Again

The latest on the Roland Burris mess...Fox News reports.

Burris, in a brief press conference on Capitol Hill, said the secretary of the Senate did not accept his credentials and prevented him from being seated or even coming to the floor.

The credentials refer to the lack of a signature by Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White. (See Seattle Times)

"I am not seeking to have any type of confrontation," he said, surrounded by reporters on a rainy day in Washington. Burris spoke shortly before the rest of the House and Senate convened for the 111th Congress.

But attorney Timothy Wright, referring to Burris as "senator," said the Senate acted "against the law of this land" in rejecting his client.

And Bobby Rush had to add this...

U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., one of Burris' top cheerleaders on Capitol Hill, accused the Senate leadership of racism Tuesday. Burris is black and if seated would be the only black member of the U.S. Senate, a distinction Obama once held.

"While they might not be termed racist, their action is racist," Rush told FOX News. "I think that if Roland Burris hadn't been an African American, then he would have been allowed to accept the appointment and become a senator."

Ann Coulter Banned From MSNBC/There's No Liberal Media Bias, Right?

Courtesy of Drudge.

The nation's top selling conservative author has been banned from appearing on NBC, insiders tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

"We are just not going to have her on any more, it's over," a top network source explains.

But a second top suit strongly denies there is any "Coulter ban". "Look for a re-invite, as soon as Wednesday," said the news executive, who asked not to be named.

NBC's TODAY show abruptly cut Ann Coulter from its planned Tuesday broadcast, claiming the schedule was overbooked.Executives at NBC TODAY replaced Coulter with showbiz reporter Perez Hilton, who recently offered $1,000 to anyone who would throw a pie at Ann Coulter. Hilton is also launching a new book this week, RED CARPET SUICIDE. Coulter was set to unveil her new book, GUILTY.

One network insider claims it was the book's theme -- a brutal examination of liberal bias in the new era -- that got executives to dis-invite the controversialist.

"We are just not interested in anyone so highly critical of President-elect Obama, right now," a TODAY insider reveals. "It's such a downer. It's just not the time, and it's not what our audience wants, either."

Others inside the peacock network strongly deny the book's theme is at issue. For the book, Coulter reportedly received the most-lucrative advance ever paid to a conservative author. The TODAY show eagerly invited the author months ago, for her first network interview on GUILTY. The exclusive was to air during the show's 7 AM hour.

The cut came Monday afternoon. Coulter was also to appear on the TODAY's fourth hour. A host even teased the segment saying the 'conservative pit bull and bestselling author' would be a guest. NBC's cable outlet, MSNBC, will also become a Coulter-free zone, insiders explain. Morning host Joe Scarborough is said to be concerned with the new ban.

"He's working to overrule it," tips a source. Developing...

Coulter appeared tonight on Hannity and Colmes

Sen. Dianne Feinstein Responds to Panetta Nomination/Lack of Intelligence Experience Causing Controversy Across Both Aisles

'My position has consistently been that I believe the agency is best served by having an intelligence professional in charge at this time,' said Senator Dianne Feinstein who, as chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, would be in charge of Mr. Panetta's confirmation."

Feinstein is not the only Democrat upset about this. NBC reports:

An aide to current Chairman of the Senate intelligence committee, Sen. Jay Rockefeller, tells NBC News that while the senator has tremendous respect for Leon Panetta, the aide said he believes the CIA director should go to someone who has significant intelligence experience and someone from outside the political world of Washington D.C.

Panetta and Retired Adm. Dennis Blair, Obama's choice to be director of national intelligence, are under immediate scrutiny for their seeming lack on intelligence experience.

"I'm at a loss," said Robert Grenier, a former director of the CIA's counterterrorism center and 27-year veteran of the agency who now is managing director of Kroll, a security consulting company.

The lack of intelligence experience puts Panetta at "a tremendous disadvantage," Grenier told The Associated Press in an interview.

"Intelligence by its very nature is an esoteric world. And right now the agency is confronted with numerous pressing challenges overseas, and to have no background is a serious deficit. I don't say that he can't succeed. It may that he can compensate for the obvious deficit."

Has anyone else figured out yet that Obama has a poor track record in his choice of friends and his judgement? Anyone alive out there!?!?!

Obama Picks Former Bill Clinton Chief of Staff for CIA Chief, Panetta "No Experience in Intelligence World"

Fox News has confirmed:

Bill Clinton's former chief of staff has been tapped to head the CIA under President-elect Barack Obama's administration, FOX News has learned.

Two Democratic sources close to the transition process say that Leon Panetta, who also previously led the White House Office of Management and Budget, is Obama's pick to replace Michael Hayden at the CIA.

Panetta is a surprise choice, since he has no experience in the intelligence world. He was a longtime congressman from California who also served on the Iraq Study Group, a bipartisan panel that released a report at the end of 2006 with dozens of recommendations for the reversing course in the Iraq war.

He is just the latest Clinton-era official to be invited into Obama's administration. Obama's pick for chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, used to work in the Clinton White House, and a number of other nominees to key positions worked in the Clinton administration.

Panetta currently directs with his wife Sylvia the Leon & Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy, based at California StateUniversity, Monterey Bay a university he helped establish on the site of the former U.S. Army base, Fort Ord.

FOX News' Major Garrett and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

The key points: "Panetta is a surprise choice, since he has no experience in the intelligence world." and "He is just the latest Clinton-era official to be invited into Obama's administration. "

Obama's understanding of National Security is continuing to be questionable. See related.

Obama Meets With Pelosi, Reid. Discusses $700 Billion Stimulus, "Tax Cuts"

President-Elect is on the job! Today marks his first full day of work in Washington.
From Fox:

According to a source with Obama's transition team, the president elect wants "tax cuts" to make up 40 percent of the package or about $270 billion to $310 billion depending on the size of the package.

About $150 billion will be offered in tax credits or rebates of up to $500 per worker ($1,000 for couples) to help stimulate consumer spending. This would be done mainly through reducing tax withholding formulas in paychecks. Low-income individuals who don't pay income taxes but pay Social Security and Medicare payroll taxes would also get rebate checks under the Obama plan.

"This relief won't be limited to people who actually pay taxes. Remember there are approximately 157 million federal tax returns filed every year, but just over 100 million of those actually pay federal income taxes," a Senate GOP aide told FOX News.

Under the Obama proposal, the stimulus measure would also include about $200 billion to help revenue-starved states with their Medicaid programs and other operating costs.

More than $100 billion would be offered in tax breaks for companies to save and create jobs and to make new investments in plants and equipment. Obama has said he wants to create 3 million new jobs.

Interesting ideas, but will this pass Republican opposition? And "tax rebates" for people who never paid the taxes in the first place?

"This is an enormous bill. It could be close to a $1 trillion spending bill," McConnell said. "Do we want to do it with essentially no hearings, no input, for example, in the Senate from Republican senators who represent half of the American population? I don't think that's a good idea."

After meeting with Obama, House Minority Leader John Boehner, R Ohio, said he was concerned about the plan's cost.

"This is not a package that's ever going to be paid for by the current generation," Boehner said. "It's being paid for by our kids and grandkids."

Mr. Burris Goes to Washington: "I Am The Junior Senator From Illinois"

From Fox News:

Illinois U.S. Senate appointee Roland Burris plans to have a high stakes showdown on Capitol Hill this week with Democratic leaders who continue to say he won't be seated in Congress.

Dozens of black leaders and ministers organized by U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush gave Burris a rousing send-off Sunday at New Covenant Church on Chicago's South Side. Burris took the stage to a crescendo of drums, organ music and applause as hundreds of supporters cheered his appointment.

"We are hoping and praying that they will not be able to deny what the Lord has ordained," Burris said. "I am not hesitating. I am now the junior Senator from the state of Illinois. Some people may want to question that and that is their prerogative."

Rep. Bobby Rush also added his ill-advised race baiting at the Church:

Rush called the Senate the "last bastion of plantation politics." The Chicago Democrat said blacks had been "excluded systematically for too long."

Wasn't Obama's election supposed to end this discussion of race and politics?

Harry Reid Slams Bush, Says War in Iraq is Lost, Civil War in Israel. Senator, You Have Lost Your Mind!

“I really do believe President Bush is the worst president we’ve ever had,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Harry Reid said today on Meet the Press that the war is still lost and that there is a civil war in Iraq and Israel.

David Gregory: Do you believe that the war in Iraq has been lost?

Harry Reid: I don't think at this stage we can talk about that with any degree of sensibility. That has to be something that will talked about in the history books to come. We...

DG: So you spoke to soon in 2007?

HR: David Petraeus and Harry Reid spoke at the same time. David Petraeus said that the war cannot be won militarily, I said what I said. Who, who phrased it the best is...

DG: You said that the war is lost. Today, in 2009, that's no longer your view?

HR: David, listen, someone else will have to determine that as the years go on. What has the war done? It's brought about--it's destabilized the Middle East. We have a civil war going on in Israel. We have a civil war in Iraq, as indicated today, more than 50 people killed with a bomb in Iraq today. We have Lebanon, a civil war there. We have Iran thumbing their nose with every, everyone. And if that weren't bad enough, our standing in the world community is so far down as a result of this war, so--and that doesn't take into consideration the tens of thousands who have been injured...

What a jackass! A sitting Senator should never make these kinds of claims!

Does Harry Reid Truly Have "Legal Authority" to Block Burris From Senate?

From Reuters:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said on Sunday that "legal authority" exists under the Constitution to bar embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's pick to fill President-elect Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat, but added there is also room to negotiate.

Under the Constitution, Reid said, "We determine who sits in the Senate. And the House (of Representatives) determines who sits in the House. So there's clearly legal authority for us to do whatever we want to do. This goes back for generations."

But The Chicago Tribune reported last week:

Still, it is not clear that the Senate has the legal authority to block a fully qualified appointee. While Blagojevich is facing impeachment hearings in the General Assembly, he remains governor, and only the governor is allowed to appoint Barack Obama's successor to the Senate, according to Illinois law.

The U.S. Supreme Court in the past has said the Senate and House cannot refuse to seat new members who meet all the qualifications for office. In 1969, it rebuked the House for refusing to seat Rep. Adam Clayton Powell Jr. a Democrat from New York who was re-elected despite being accused of ethical lapses.

Senator Reid is losing it. Seriously, he is losing his grip on reality and becoming a little bit egomaniacal. Kinda like the ObamaChrist.

Chuck Shumer Declares Al Franken is the Next Senator From Minnesota; Senate Republicans Are Furious

From the AP:

New York Sen. Charles Schumer said Sunday that Democrat Al Franken is the clear winner in Minnesota's Senate race and should be seated as soon as possible. But a leading Republican lawmaker said calling the race for Franken would be premature...

Can we wait until a certification?

The state Canvassing Board is expected to certify the results of the re-count Monday, then there will be a seven-day waiting period before an election certificate is completed. If any lawsuits are filed during that waiting period, certification is conditional until the issue is settled in court. "With the Minnesota recount complete, it is now clear that Al Franken won the election ... and while there are still possible legal issues that will run their course, there is no longer any doubt who will be the next Senator from Minnesota," Schumer said. "With the Senate set to begin meeting on Tuesday to address the important issues facing the nation, it is crucial that Minnesota's seat not remain empty, and I hope this process will resolve itself as soon as possible."...
The GOP is none to happy.

Sen. John Cornyn, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, called Schumer's comments premature and troubling, since Schumer is the new chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, which has jurisdiction over contested elections.

"Senator Schumer will likely play a key role in determining who ultimately assumes this Senate seat," Cornyn said. "Pre-judging the outcome while litigation is still pending calls into question his ability to impartially preside over this matter when it comes before the Committee, as it most certainly will."

Why are the Dems in such a rush to confim Franken and refuse to seat Roland Burris? Hmmm....

Barack Obama: The New Parenting Guide/Role Model For Kids

Disgusting infatuation article from The Washington Post. Seriously, get over it! (Via Michelle Malkin)

Sherry Jones was driving her 13-year-old son, Malcolm, to school the other morning when he mentioned something about some kid he didn’t like.

Something about the kid being a jerk.

Jones told him that wasn’t kind. When you speak of people, she said, always speak good of them.

“Look at Barack! . . . During the campaign, no matter what, Obama always took the high road,” she told him. “During the debates when John McCain would say a dig, Barack would never react. . . . He was always positive.”

Malcolm, who likes a good debate, was, for that moment, quiet.

In that silence, Jones realized that something about her spontaneous, trapped-in-the-car lecture was working. “If my son didn’t agree, he would let me know,” says Jones, an accountant who lives in Silver Spring. “He always has something else to say. . . . Usually, he will say, ‘Yeah, but . . . ‘ When I use Barack Obama as an example, I can see him. He’s quiet. He may sit up a little straighter.

Be Like Barack! What about lying about the "bad kids" he is hanging around? Will he use the Obama defense? I didn't know Reverend Wright was saying those things, I thought Bill Ayers was reformed, no idea about Tony Rezko, no idea about Blago...

Obama has become that nice man up the street you want your kid to grow up to be like.

Is this like the Arrested Development song "Mr. Wendell"?

"Yes," says Amber, 14, an eighth-grade student, "because Obama can do it. I see myself studying harder. I stay more focused. I take more notes. I am asking a lot more questions."

Obama discipline is complicated. Kids relate to him in a way that they say they have not related to other politicians. He might be the president-elect, but he's cool, he's young, he speaks a language they understand.

That's right, he's cool, he's young, he's hip. The Cool-in-Chief.

"He's different than other presidents," Malcolm Jones says. "He has kids who are young. And he was endorsed by a lot of icons."

Well, if he was endorsed by Oprah and Sean Penn...I stand corrected.

Harlan Jones, director of the New Sewell Music Conservatory in Northwest Washington (and no relation to Malcolm), is sitting in his office talking about Obama with his 12-year-old daughter, Nia, a sixth-grader whose grades have slipped from her usual straight A's.

"You have to get back on page, just like he did," he tells Nia. "We know you are better because you exemplified that through past studies. Suppose he had gotten down? With that in mind, Nia, please straighten up. Look at his strategy. He surrounded himself with people who were hardworking. . . . Who are your supporters?"

"My parents," Nia says, submitting to the lecture.

"I'm glad you said that. . . . You have a support system to do what?"

And Nia, tidy in her blue-and khaki school uniform, obediently answers, "Succeed."
Hope and Change! Is that what the next four years are going to be like? Will the media at least pretend not to be in love with the ObamaCon?

Will The Messiah Endanger The Holy Land? Why Barack Can't Take a Stand on Israel/Hamas Conflict

Ralph Peters column from New York Post...frightening scenario considering the events unfolding today in the Middle East.

Obama's an unknown quantity, though. While hysterical claims that he'll be pro-Islamist from start to finish are absurd, even minor shifts away from supporting Israel's struggle against terrorists could have catastrophic consequences. And Israel's vaunted intelligence services can't tell their superiors what Obama will do, since few (if any) of the president-elect's supporters know what he intends to do.

In fact, the president-elect may not know himself. He's a babe in the woods, and the woods are full of wolves. Fighting political rivals doesn't prepare you for fighting terrorist fanatics.

For now, Israel must worry that a major ground offensive against Hamas would be halted halfway by the withdrawal of US support, both diplomatic and practical. The IDF even counts on us to replenish reserve stocks of the guided weapons that minimize civilian casual ties or penetrate tunnels and bunkers. Israel could find that it had paid a grim price in the blood of its sons and daughters, only to be robbed of the chance to hand Hamas a meaningful defeat.

As for our president-elect, his all-too-coy insistence that "we have only one president at a time" has been selective from the start. Glad to pontificate on stimulus packages and union benefits, Obama has used the one-president mantra to avoid taking stands on difficult issues that bedevil or bewilder him. Our president-elect needed to make a clear, prompt statement in support of Israel. He didn't. If I were an Israeli leader, I'd be worried, too.

Obama's notorious for avoiding firm stands that might alienate any important constituency. But you can't have it both ways in the Middle East. He needs to stand up in support of Israel. Now.

Israeli soldiers should not have to go into battle worrying about an American bullet in the back.

The point about Obama not taking a stance is indeed scary. Clearly, his "one president at a time" argument is getting old. We can't wait until January 20th, not to say goodbye to George Bush, but to see what ObamaChrist and Hillary will do with foreign policy and protecting the world from terror.

Our prediction? He is in over his head and our country will regret their decision to make him our next President.

We hope we are wrong.

Harry Reid Also Discussed Obama Seat With Blago. Does Sen. Reid Have A Conflict of Interest in Blocking Burris?

The Chicago Sun Times reported on Friday:

Days before Gov. Blagojevich was charged with trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama's U.S. Senate seat to the highest bidder, top Senate Democrat Harry Reid made it clear who he didn’t want in the post: Jesse Jackson, Jr., Danny Davis or Emil Jones.

Rather, Reid called Blagojevich to argue he appoint either state Veterans Affairs chief Tammy Duckworth or Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, sources told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Sources say the Senate majority leader pushed against Jackson and Davis — both democratic congressmen from Illinois — and against Jones — the Illinois Senate president who is the political godfather of President-elect Barack Obama — because he did not believe the three men were electable. He feared losing the seat to a Republican in a future election.

Blagojevich spokesman Lucio Guerrero confirmed that Reid (D-Nev.) and U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) — the new chief of the Senate Democratic political operation — each called Blagojevich’s campaign office separately Dec. 3. Sources believe that at least portions of the phone conversations are on tape.

Guerrero added today that Team Blago views Reid's protest against Burris is indeed politically motivated.

Illinois' embattled governor complained through his spokesman Saturday that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is guilty of a conflict of interest in that Reid telephoned him in early December to discuss the seat being vacated by President-elect Barack Obama.

Lucio Guerrero, spokesman for Gov. Rod Blagojevich, said he didn't know firsthand which candidates the Nevada Democrat supported during the call, but said he knows Reid's candidates did not include Roland Burris, the man the governor recently picked for Obama's seat.

Senate leaders have vowed to oppose the appointment of Burris.

"I think the governor believes there is a conflict of interest — that Reid showed he has a horse in the race and Roland Burris wasn't one of them," Guerrero said.

The AP Article also mentions that Timothy Wright, the lawyer for Burris wrote a letter to select Senators asking they provide the people of Illinois with representation provided by the constitution.

"What is clear to me is that every candidate that was African-American was denied and every other candidate was acceptable," said Wright, adding, "I'm not going to read too much into that."

Wright also echoed Blagojevich's claim of a conflict of interest, saying that Reid's call to the governor showed he had a political stake in who took Obama's seat.

Reid fired back late Saturday afternoon with this statement.

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the following statement today in response to reports that Gov. Blagojevich has been leaking and distorting conversations about the process for filling Illinois' vacant Senate seat:

"Gov. Blagojevich appears to be trying to distract attention from his daunting legal problems and damaged credibility by distorting information about private phone calls between himself and other public officials. It is regrettable and reprehensible.

"Gov. Blagojevich's efforts to try to tarnish others while the cloud of suspicion continues to grow over him are shameful, as are his efforts to further betray the public trust and sow seeds of division. As each day passes it becomes increasingly clear that Gov. Blagojevich is not fit to lead, and he should resign.

"I will not allow his corruption charges or his antics to distract me from leading the Senate, to drive a wedge in our party or to obscure the facts."

Reid is not only dragging himself deeper into dangerous water, he is legitimizing Blago's irrationality and making himself and others appear to be not only racist, but just as politically corrupt as Blago himself.

The soap opera continues...

War of Words, Politics Rages Over Al Franken

The Senate is really becoming a mess. Democrats are refusing to seat Roland Burris, the battle over Sweet Caroline rages on in The Empire State, and now GOP leaders are planning to filibuster seating Al Franken should he attempt to enter the Senate next week

According to Newsmax:

Republicans will filibuster any attempt to seat Minnesota Democrat Al Franken when Congress convenes next week, Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn warned his Democratic colleagues Friday.

It was the latest salvo in the war of words touched off this week when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., suggested Franken was drawing near to clinching a victory — despite the fact that as many as 2,000 votes are uncounted and numerous legal challenges loom.

"At this stage, it appears that Franken will be certified the winner by the State Canvassing Board,” a statement from Reid’s office declared Tuesday. “We're keeping abreast of the situation and will make a decision with regard to Senate action at the appropriate point in the process."

That statement drew a sharp rebuke from GOP leaders.

“The American people will see right through Harry Reid’s crass partisan power grab,” Ken Blackwell, who is a leading contender for the GOP chairmanship, told Newsmax. “He wants to manufacture a filibuster-proof majority to push through his liberal agenda.”

Cornyn, the new chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, left little doubt Republicans would fight any attempt to make a Franken victory appear a foregone conclusion by seating him early.

“I can assure you there will be no way that people on our side of the aisle would agree to seat any senator provisionally or otherwise unless there is a valid election certificate and all legal issues with regard to who got the most votes is finally decided,” Cornyn told reporters during a conference call Friday.

Here's a new idea: why don't we just unseat the entire Senate and start over? Seems just as (un)constitutional as all the moves Reid, Cornyn, etc are using.

Oddly enough, Blago seems to be the only guy involved in this controversial Senate mess actually exercising his constitutional authority. Weird.

A great piece from dcexaminer about the plight of Harry Reid and his fellow Democrat's desire not to seat Roland Burris.
