The "Stimulus" Is A Joke, Will Never Work And Here Is Why -- Dick Morris, Michelle Malkin and Even The Washington Post Agree America Is Being Duped

Excerpts from Dick Morris's column. He truly nails it folks! This is exactly what we have been talking about for months! Get on board the ConservativeXpress!

In implementing his agenda, Obama will emulate the example of Franklin D. Roosevelt (not the liberal mythology of the New Deal, but the actuality of what it accomplished).

Obama's record will be similar, although less wise and more destructive. He will begin by passing every program for which liberals have lusted for decades, from alternative energy sources to school renovations to infrastructure repairs to technology enhancements.

These are all good programs, but they normally would be stretched out for years. Freed of any constraint on the deficit -- indeed empowered by a mandate to raise it as high as possible -- Obama will do them all rather quickly.

Obama will follow the opposite of the Reagan strategy. Reagan cut taxes and increased the deficit so that liberals could not increase spending. Obama will raise spending and increase the deficit so that conservatives cannot cut taxes. And when the economy is restored, he will raise taxes with impunity since the only people who would have to pay them would be rich Republicans.

In the name of stabilizing the banking system, Obama will nationalize it. Using TARP funds to write generous checks to needy financial institutions, his administration will demand preferred stock in exchange. Preferred stock gets dividends before common stockholders do. With the massive debt these companies will owe to the government, they will only be able to afford dividends for preferred stockholders -- the government, not private investors. So who will buy common stock? And the government will demand that its bills be paid before any profits that might materialize are reinvested in the financial institution. So how will the value of the stocks ever grow? Devoid of private investors, these institutions will fall ever more under government control.

And Obama will move to change permanently the partisan balance in America. He will move quickly to legalize all those who have been in America for five years, albeit illegally, and to smooth their paths to citizenship and voting.

And he will enact the check-off card system for determining labor union representation, repealing the secret ballot in union elections.

Finally, he will use the expansive powers of the Federal Communications Commission to impose "local" control and ownership of radio stations and to impose the "fairness doctrine" on talk radio. The effect will be to drive talk radio to the Internet, fundamentally change its economics and retard its growth for years hence.

But none of these changes will cure the depression. It will end when the private sector works through the high debt levels that triggered the collapse in the first place. And then, the large stimulus package deficits will likely lead to rapid inflation, probably necessitating a second recession to cure it.

So Obama's name will be mud by 2012 and probably by 2010, as well. And the Republican Party will make big gains and regain much of its lost power. But it will be too late to reverse the socialism of much of the economy, the demographic change in the electorate, the rationing of health care by the government, the surge of unionization and the crippling of talk radio.

Do not let this happen, America! Write your Senator andCongressmen! Write
President Obama! His socialist agend will not work, yet his efforts will cost us
trillions of dollars in debt to our kids and grandkids!

Wake up! It is a horrible plan! Wake up from the Obamamania haze and see
what is truly going on!

From Michelle Malkin:

The CBO analysis showed that "less than half of the $30 billion in highway construction funds detailed by House Democrats would be released into the economy over the next four years" and "less than $4 billion in highway construction money would reach the economy by September 2010," according to the Associated Press. And those are generous time estimates given the reality of molasses-slow bidding and contracting processes -- bogged down by the usual weight of political wrangling, racial bean-counting and assorted union grievance-mongering.

Just $26 billion out of the $274 billion set aside in the package would reach the economy by the end of the year, the CBO found. That's a mere 7 percent. Moreover, the AP summed up: "Just one in seven dollars of a huge $18.5 billion investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy programs would be spent within a year and a half."

Even The Compost agreed:
A report by the Congressional Budget Office found that only about $136 billion of the $355 billion that House leaders want to allocate to infrastructure and other so-called discretionary programs would be spent by Oct. 1, 2010.

The honeymoon is over, now let's get real. Suck it up, folks! Bail yourself out! Government never has been and never will be The Answer!

The Chosen One is a fraud!

$1 Trillion Divided By The US Population Equals? What Would Your Family Do With $13,000? Obama's Stimulus Would Give Every American Over $3000!

President Elect Obama/Congress Economic Stimulus plan could reach $1 Trillion.

There are approximately 304 Million American citizens.

$1 Trillion Divided by 304 Million equals roughly 3290...per person, not per taxpayer.

What would you do with approximately $3290? What if you are a family of 4? That's over $13,000 per family!

Don't you think your family can spend $13,000 more wisely than the Federal Government?

Would that not "stimulate" the economy is more unimaginable ways than Congress and Obama?

Wake up America! You are being deceived! You are being robbed!

Tax breaks, tax cuts, tax credits! Please! Help the cause!

Obama, Pelosi and Reid are stealing from you! They are using YOUR money to buy votes!

Sarah Palin Fights Back Against Congress, Environmentalists, Statement Gives the Facts About ANWR, Drill Baby Drill!

Clearly she is neither "uniformed" nor "clearly unqualied".

Governor Sarah Palin's statement from Alaska Report:

Governor Sarah Palin today issued the following statement after members of Congress introduced a bill to permanently prohibit drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge:

"I am dismayed that legislation has again been introduced in Congress to prohibit forever oil and gas development in the most promising unexplored petroleum province in North America – the coastal plain of ANWR, in Alaska.

"Let’s not forget: Only six months ago, oil was selling for nearly $150 per barrel, while Americans were paying $4 a gallon and more for gasoline. And today, there is potential for prices to rebound as OPEC asserts its market power, and as Russia is disrupting needed natural gas to Europe , for the second time in three years.

"As I traveled throughout the country campaigning for vice president, I was glad to hear politicians, including President-elect Barack Obama, promise ‘everything was on the table’ to address America 's great challenges. I also found that when Americans were apprised of the facts, most people became supporters of responsible oil and gas drilling in Alaska . So, I want to remind our national leaders of this promise, and to make the case against this legislation that would permanently take off the table any consideration of responsible ANWR drilling."

The governor made the following points:

* Oil from ANWR represents a huge, secure domestic supply that could help satisfy U.S. demand for more than 25 years.

* ANWR sits within a 20 million acre refuge (the size of South Carolina ) but thanks to advanced technology like directional drilling, the aggregated drilling footprint would be less than 2,000 acres (about one-quarter the size of Dulles Airport ). This is like laying a two-by-three-foot welcome mat on a basketball court.

* Energy development is quite compatible with the protection of our wildlife and their habitat. For example, North Slope caribou herds have grown and remained healthy throughout more than three decades of our oil development. Most of the year, our coastal plain is frozen solid and thus characterized by low biological productivity.

* ANWR development would create hundreds of thousands of good American jobs, positively affecting every state by providing a safe energy supply and generating demand for goods and services.

* Development here would reduce U.S. dependence on unstable, dangerous sources of energy such as the Middle East , and would decrease our huge trade deficit, a large percentage of which is directly attributable to oil imports.

* Incremental ANWR production would help reduce energy price volatility. Previous price disruptions demonstrate how even relatively low levels of oil production influence world prices.

* Federal revenues from ANWR – cash bids, leases, and oil taxes – would help reduce the multi-trillion dollar national debt, and we'd circulate U.S. petrodollars in our own country instead of continuing to send hundreds of billions of our dollars overseas, creating jobs and stronger economies in other countries.

The governor went on to say:

"The development of oil and clean-burning natural gas isn't a panacea. However, this development should be authorized in comprehensive legislation that includes alternative fuels, fuel efficiency, and conservation.

"Americans know that gasoline and other refined crude oil products will keep fueling our transportation system for the foreseeable future. Further, the soaring prices of food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and other products illustrate the importance of petroleum to the health and well-being of America.

"Another important reality is that the location and quantity of oil production are drastically changing world geopolitics. Energy-producing countries are rapidly gaining world power. Several of these countries have objectives and value systems that are antithetical to U.S. interests.

"Washington politicians should be horrified as we become increasingly dependent on these insecure, foreign sources while our U.S. petrodollars finance activities that harm America and our economic and military interests around the world.

"If we don't move now to enact a comprehensive energy policy that includes domestic oil and gas production – including ANWR - we will look back someday and regret that we failed to perceive a critical crossroads in the history of America. It's not overly dramatic to say our nation's future depends on the decisions made by the federal government over the next few months.

"Polls show a majority of Americans now support responsible energy development in Alaska. Unfortunately, some disingenuous special interest groups are still fighting the public will in Congress.

"Americans, please contact Congress and ask that all options stay on the table as we formulate our needed energy plan. Remind politicians about their promises to increase domestic oil and gas production."

War of Words, Politics Rages Over Al Franken

The Senate is really becoming a mess. Democrats are refusing to seat Roland Burris, the battle over Sweet Caroline rages on in The Empire State, and now GOP leaders are planning to filibuster seating Al Franken should he attempt to enter the Senate next week

According to Newsmax:

Republicans will filibuster any attempt to seat Minnesota Democrat Al Franken when Congress convenes next week, Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn warned his Democratic colleagues Friday.

It was the latest salvo in the war of words touched off this week when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., suggested Franken was drawing near to clinching a victory — despite the fact that as many as 2,000 votes are uncounted and numerous legal challenges loom.

"At this stage, it appears that Franken will be certified the winner by the State Canvassing Board,” a statement from Reid’s office declared Tuesday. “We're keeping abreast of the situation and will make a decision with regard to Senate action at the appropriate point in the process."

That statement drew a sharp rebuke from GOP leaders.

“The American people will see right through Harry Reid’s crass partisan power grab,” Ken Blackwell, who is a leading contender for the GOP chairmanship, told Newsmax. “He wants to manufacture a filibuster-proof majority to push through his liberal agenda.”

Cornyn, the new chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, left little doubt Republicans would fight any attempt to make a Franken victory appear a foregone conclusion by seating him early.

“I can assure you there will be no way that people on our side of the aisle would agree to seat any senator provisionally or otherwise unless there is a valid election certificate and all legal issues with regard to who got the most votes is finally decided,” Cornyn told reporters during a conference call Friday.

Here's a new idea: why don't we just unseat the entire Senate and start over? Seems just as (un)constitutional as all the moves Reid, Cornyn, etc are using.

Oddly enough, Blago seems to be the only guy involved in this controversial Senate mess actually exercising his constitutional authority. Weird.

Blago Strikes Again! Illinois Governor to Name Former Ill. Attorney General Roland Burris

The Chicago Sun Times is reporting that Gov. Blago will name Roland Burris to replace Barack Obama in the US Senate.

WASHINGTON---I've learned that Gov. Blagojevich is poised to name former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris to replace President elect Barack Obama in the Senate on Tuesday afternoon. The embattled Blagojevich is fighting impeachment charges in the Illinois House for, among other reasons, trying to auction off the Senate seat held by President elect Barack Obama. Blagojevich called a press conference for 2 p.m. Chicago time at the Thompson State of Illinois Center.

Burris was the first African American to win statewide office in Illinois when he was elected comptroller, serving from 1983 to 1991. He served as Illinois Attorney General from 1991 to 1995. Burris previously ran and lost bids for the U.S. senate and governor. Senate Leader Harry Reid (D-Nv.) had said he would ask the Senate not to seat any Blagojevich appointee, in order to make sure the seat is free of taint.

Burris has a long political history in Illinois, mostly on the losing side of elections. (Lost to Paul Simon in 1984 Senate race, lost 1994 run for Governor, lost in 1995 bid for Mayor of Chicago, was yet again unsuccessful to get Democratic nomination in the 2002 Governor race, where he lost to, that's right, Blago!)

So a corrupt Governor who is currently facing impeachment hearings nominates a lifetime loser.

Is anyone else getting the feeling that Blago is completely insane?

Congress Gets a $4700 Pay Raise!?!

All Members of Congress will get pay raise in January, 2009 unless they vote to block it. Each member of Congress will see another $4,700 in his or her paycheck over the next year, an increase of 2.8 percent over their current $169,300 annual salary. (Source: Council for Citizens Against Government Waste)

This amounts to roughly $2.5 Million more tax dollars going to pay these people.

“Members of Congress don’t deserve one additional dime of taxpayer money in 2009,” said The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste President Tom Schatz. “While thousands of Americans are facing layoffs and downsizing, Congress should be mortified to accept a raise. They failed to pass most of their appropriations bills, the deficit is on pace to reach an unprecedented $1 trillion, and the national debt stands at $10 trillion. In addition, this Congress has been ethically challenged, plagued with corruption allegations, convictions, and sex scandals.”

Admittedly, $2.5 Million is nothing in our current Winter Wonderland of Waste, but in the real world, raises are based on performance and like Mr. Schatz, we don't see how the performance of Congress justifies its 2.8% pay increase.

Write your Congressman and ask them to vote down this raise!

Michigan Congressmen Exposed: Conflict of Interests With Auto Industry

CBS News reported earlier this month that the Auto Industry spent over $50 Million lobbying Congress and on donations to politicians during the first nine months of 2008. Here are some highlights:

  • Sen. Carl Levin, a Democrat, received $438,304

  • Rep. Joe Knollenberg, a Republican, received $879,327.

  • Rep. John Dingell, a Democrat, received nearly $1 Million!

All have enjoyed generous support from the auto industry over their careers, with GM and Ford as their two top contributors. All support a bailout.

But nobody's been a bigger advocate for Motor City interests than Dingell. And for him, the stakes aren't just political, they're personal.

"There's an actual conflict," said Ryan Alexander of the nonprofit group Taxpayers for Common Sense. "His personal financial health, you know, the wealth of his family is tied up in the car industry."

Dingell's wife Debbie once worked as a lobbyist for GM. When she married the congressman, she became a senior GM executive at an undisclosed salary. And we found the couple has extensive GM assets. Dingell's current financial disclosure filed in May lists GM stock worth up to $350,000, options worth up to $1 million more, and a GM pension fund. In 2000, among the Dingells' GM assets were stock options worth up to $5 million.

And in 1998, the congressman reported selling GM stock options worth up to $1 million dollars. Dingell wouldn't agree to an interview. Taxpayer watchdog Alexander says the Dingell's personal ties to GM are something the public should know about when the congressman casts his votes.

"They stand to benefit if the company doesn't go under, if the company prospers," she said. "And they stand to lose a lot if the company goes bankrupt."

Nobody is placing bets on whether Congress will end up giving the car companies a bailout. But if investments in Washington politicians count as leverage, then the auto industry has plenty of clout.

Dingell is the poster boy for term limits. He came to Congress in 1955, winning a special election to replace his father who had passed away. Some relevant points from his Wikipedia Bio:

Dingell has opposed raising mandatory automobile fuel efficiency standards, which he helped to write in the 1970s. Instead he has indicated that he intends to pursue a regulatory structure that
takes greenhouse gas emissions and oil consumption into account. In a July, 2007 interview with thehill.com, he said “I have made it very plain that I intend to see to it that
CAFE is increased” and went on to point out that his plan would have increases tantamount to those in the Senate bill recently passed. In November 2007, working with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Dingell helped draft an energy bill that would regulate a 40% increase in fuel efficiency standards.

Now, we have already discussed that CAFE standards add an unnecessary burden to the Auto companies. So in receiving millions in his career from the companies, he has tried to appease Environmentalists, yet protect the Auto Makers.

In July 2007, Dingell indicated he planned to introduce a new a tax on carbon usage in order to curtail greenhouse gas emissions. The policy has been criticized by some, as polling numbers show voters may be unwilling to pay for the changes. A Wall Street Journal editorial claimed that vehicle emissions standards that he supports will not yield any substantial greenhouse gas emissions savings.

His conflict of interest with the auto makers is astounding:

Dingell has drawn criticism for his ties to the automotive industry. The three largest contributors to his campaign for the 2006 election cycle are political action committees, employees, or other affiliates of General Motors, Ford Motor Company, and DaimlerChrysler, since 1989, intermediaries for these corporations have contributed more than $600,000 to his campaign. Dingell also holds an unknown quantity, more than $1 million, in assets through General Motors stock options and savings-stock purchase programs; his spouse, Debbie Dingell, worked as a lobbyist for the corporation until they married, whereupon she moved to an administrative position there. At present Ms. Dingell is a senior executive at General Motors and vice chair of the General Motors Foundation. On November 11th, 2008, American columnist Thomas Friedman wrote about the the lack of innovative business culture in American auto industry singling out Representative John Dingell:
"The blame for this travesty not only belongs to the auto executives, but must be shared equally with the entire Michigan delegation in the House and Senate, virtually all of whom, year after year, voted however the Detroit automakers and unions instructed them to vote. That shielded General Motors, Ford and Chrysler from environmental concerns, mileage concerns and the full impact of global competition that could have forced Detroit to adapt long ago. Indeed, if and when they do have to bury Detroit, I hope that all the current and past representatives and senators from Michigan have to serve as pallbearers. And no one has earned the “honor” of chief pallbearer more than the Michigan Representative John Dingell, the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee who is more responsible for protecting Detroit to death than any single legislator."
So its obvious why Michigan Congress Members support a bailout. Republican or Democrat, they all need to be investigated.

MichiganMessenger.com reports some good insight as well:

“For the last 20 years, the Michigan delegation felt that what was good for the big three was good for Michigan,” said Brendan Bell, Washington representative for the Union of Concerned Scientists. “Instead, 20 years of inaction gave the big three the rope to hang themselves with.”

The saga highlights the perils of congressional efforts to protect regional industries. Responding to evolving consumer tastes, America’s automakers focused much of the last two decades on producing larger, less efficient vehicles, exemplified by the sports utility vehicle, or SUV. Attempts by environmentalists and some lawmakers to install higher fuel efficiency standards were thwarted along the way, with the opposition rallying behind Michigan’s powerful representatives, particularly House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman John Dingell (D) and five-term Sen. Carl Levin (D). Between 1975 and 2007, federal fuel consumption standards remained unchanged.

Dan Becker, a Washington-based environmental consultant, said that “a wishful blindness” among Detroit’s congressional supporters has greatly contributed to the divide. “The auto industry has suffered from a number of members of Congress who drank Detroit’s Kool-Aid and protected the industry to death,” Becker said. “They’re now suffering because of their short-sightedness.”

**For More Information, maplight.org gives shows that Congressmen who received the most money from auto makers supported a bailout while those who received little or no donations voted no.

Auto Bailout Fails in Senate Free Market Capitalism Lives

The US Senate failed to pass the Auto Industry Bailout Bill on Thursday night. The United Auto Workers Union failed to concede to reduced wages and benefits.

What does this mean? Let the free market solution work. Capitalistic Darwinism. Survival of the fittest.

Though no one wants to see any hard working American lose his/her job, the fate of the UAW remains hazy. Hopefully, the Big 3 will be forced to enter into bankruptcy which will enable them to renegotiate their debts, dissolve the union and rise above the ashes as stronger, more economically viable companies.

The American Automobile is not dead. The bailout is. It's a necessary evil.

God Bless America. God Bless the Conservatives who stood their ground in the Senate.

Will the Senate Vote Down Auto Bailout?

The latest news from Reuter's

It is our opinion that one of the last acts of the current Congress should be a "No" Vote on the current plan.

$15 Billion is money better spent other places. The White House won its battle that the money come from an already existing bill for energy-efficient cars.

The bailout of the banks and financial institutions was a necessary evil to avoid a complete credit collapse that would have doomed the economy even worse than current conditions.

Government involvement in private industry can only spell trouble. We do not need central-planning!

See related post.

Sen. Bob Corker's Republican alternative (from CNNMoney.com) include the following points:

  • GM and Chrysler must reduce their debt by two-thirds by March 15, or file for bankruptcy. This would allow them to renegotiate their debt with lenders and bondholders.

  • The United Auto Workers union would have to accept significant equity in the companies to help offset future retiree health care payments, instead of cash or other assets the companies were to contribute to union-controlled trust funds that will pay those claims in the future.

  • The union would have to accept pay cuts for GM and Chrysler workers to levels paid at the U.S. plants of overseas automakers.

This is what we've argued all along. Why does it cost The Big 3 upwards of 60% in labor to produce a car? The Union contracts MUST be renegotiated through bankruptcy. Tax dollars should not be used as an appeasement to the unions -- or $15 Billion in votes for the Democrats.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi Wants a "Car Czar"? Liberal Socialism?

Congressional Democrats and the White House are working on a $15 billion bailout for U.S. auto makers - complete with a "car czar" to oversee the industry.

Great. Let's put more government oversight into the bailout disaster. Anyone qualified to be a Car Czar ought to be CEO of one of the Big 3 automakers.

A governement with a partial ownership of any American company is akin to
central planning, common amongst socialist and communist idealogies.

WikiPedia Defintion of Central Planning:

Economic interventionism or central economic planning is any action taken by a government, beyond the basic regulation of fraud and enforcement of contracts, in an effort to affect its own economy. Economic intervention can be aimed at a variety of political or economic objectives, such as promoting economic growth, increasing employment, raising wages, raising or reducing prices, promoting equality, managing the money supply and interest rates, or addressing market failures. The intervention may to direct, or indirect as in the case of indicative planning. When this economic planning is extensive, the economy is referred to as a planned economy.
Economic interventionism is generally associated with the political left (socialist, left-wing liberal or green parties) which believes that certain market outcomes are undesirable and ought to be mitigated. Economic interventionism is sometimes practised by national conservative parties with the thinking that the free market can damage national traditions, social order, or the authority of the state itself.

You Decide! Good Economic Philosophy? Or Socialism?

Auto Industry Bailout Will Only Prolong the Inevitable Bankruptcy of The Big 3

Congress and the White House appear to have reached a tentative deal to keep the Big 3 Auto makers afloat for at least a couple months -- that is, until Barack Obama assumes the Oval Office.

According to reports, approximately $15,000,000,000 will be dispersed to Ford, GM and Chrysler and this cash will be allocated from federal funds already set aside to help the companies produce more energy-efficient cars. This was President Bush's influence; one in which Speaker Pelosi and Congressional Democrats to do particularly support. (Liberals cannot afford to offend the radical, leftist environmentalists anymore than they can offend the unions.)

Pelosi said the House would consider legislation next week to provide "short-term and limited assistance" to the U.S. auto industry.

Limited and Short Term. Read: Will Not Fix The Problem.

These companies DO NOT deserve tax payer money. They should be bailed out by the MEMBERS OF CONGRESS THEMSELVES!

Liberal Politicians have benefited from Unions for decades. Placating union bosses has been a windfall campaign finance tactic for a number of members of Capitol Hill.

And it's NOT simply the economy, stupid.

Ron Gettelfinger, head of the United Auto Workers union, says employees are not to blame for Detroit's problems.

"It's not our fault that the economy is in the tank," he said.

Indeed, the economy has seen better times but Honda, Nissan and Toyota are not panhandling on the steps of the Capitol. Somehow, they are managing to build, sell and profit from selling cars in America.

The biggest reason these automakers are in trouble is simple: It costs the Big 3 an average of $30/Labor Hour (or 60%) MORE to produce a car than competitors like Nissan, Honda and Toyota who build cars in United States plants as well. At 40 hours per week, the average UAW member makes over $150,000 annually in benefits and compensation. Does anyone else think that's a bit much to screw some tires on a car?

What about the so-called "job banks" where laid-off UAW members can collect 95% of their income by doing nothing more than watch TV and drink coffee. The Big 3 will not discuss the exact details of these job banks, citing they are not public information.

The truth is clear. How many businesses in this country would succeed by paying 60% more than a competitor to produce a product? How many would succeed by paying people who don't produce a single asset?

Auto Bailout/Barney Frank Need His Oil Changed

Among the many issues and people involved in the financial crisis, the proposed auto-industry bailout and the economic stimulus, one man stands alone in his immature, irrational and radical beliefs.

Dear old friend, Rep Barney Frank challenged President-Elect Obama to become more inolved, despite inauguration day still over a month away.

"He's (President-Elect Obama) going to have to be more assertive than he's been," Frank said at a Consumer Federation of America conference in Washington. "At a time of great crisis with mortgage foreclosures and autos, he says we only have one president at a time. I'm afraid that overstates the number of presidents we have. He's got to remedy that situation."

Mr. Frank is passing the buck of responsibility onto President Bush. Let's not forget that as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, it was Mr. Frank who played a major hand in our financial mess by enabling Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to allow people to purchase homes they cannot afford. (See a September Boston Globe column for a great description of this.)

It's unprofessional and demonstrates Mr. Frank does not know his steering wheel from his tailpipe. We would have much more respect for Mr. Frank if he and his liberal colleagues would take responsibility for SOMETHING, ANYTHING and STOP BLAMING GEORGE BUSH FOR EVERYTHING!

It's a two-way street; Congress and the White House work together and we are FED UP with these people's inability to accept responsibility for their own failures.

If our government cannot admit to its mistakes, how can we expect our business leaders to do the same?

A Seattle artist selected to represent her congressional district in an ornament designing contest for the White House Christmas Tree insulted the President and First Lady with a distasteful ornament which read "impeach Bush". Click the title about to read the editorial from the Seattle Times.

This is disgusting, disrespectful and in poor taste. Congressman Jim McDermott who represents Washington's 7th District should be equally ashamed and owes Mr. and Mrs. Bush a sincere apology.

Again, we Americans cannot afford to destroy ourselves from within! Ideological differences are encouraged but personal, distasteful attacks of our leaders is unacceptable and flat out wrong.

Atheist Sign Stands Next to Christmas Display in WA Capitol

The Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation has placed a display in Olympia, Washington to counter a nativity scene and the "Capitol Holiday Kids Tree" at the state Capitol. The organization's website cites "protecting the constitutional principle of the separation of church and state."

The placard reads: "At this season of the Winter Solstice may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."

Certainly, the Constitution protects our right to freedom of religion and prevents the formation of a state religion. However, "separation of church and state" is not found in the Constitution.

The idea that Gov. Christine Gregoire and her PC staff allow an organization which does not understand the Constitution exercise its constitutional rights is preposterous.

Our country and our morals have always been founded on the Judeo-Christian value system. This is simply another example of Americans trying to destroy itself from within.

Indeed, atheists have their right to "practice non-religion" but to attack the sanctity and joy of Christmas is simply foolish, ignorant and unnecessary. Further, by "practicing non-religion" they are validating religion.

Finally, by granting the right to display this disgusting placard, Gov. Christine Gregoire has taken political-correctness to a new level.

E-Mail Gov. Gregoire.
