VIDEO: Judd Gregg Slams Obama Again!

In the weekly Republican address, Senator Judd Gregg explains why Republicans think President Obama's budget spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much. Republicans believe we create prosperity by having an affordable government without excessive spending, taxes, or debt.

I'm so glad Sen. Gregg stayed in Congress instead of selling his soul to the devil.

He's already said Obama's Budget will bankrupt the nation and that the White House's math is a "spurious" lie. He has also criticized the U.S. debt, adding that our current situtation would prevent us from being eligible for the EU!

Gregg is widely respected for his fiscal opinions and Obama himself gives Gregg's comments a sense of stinging credibility. When the president introduced Gregg as his nominee for Commerce Secretary last month, he said Gregg is known for is fiscal discipline.

"Hello, I'm Judd Gregg, Senator from New Hampshire. We all know these are difficult times. People are worried about keeping their jobs, paying their bills, the value of their homes and the cost of sending their kids to college. It's hard.

"Thus I appreciate, as do all Americans, the efforts being made by our President and his seriousness about addressing these issues.

"But what concerns many of us are his proposals in the budget he recently sent to the Congress that dramatically grow the size and cost of government and move it to the left.

"It is our opinion that this plan spends too much, taxes too much and borrows too much.

"You may have heard this before that the budget of the President spends too much, taxes too much and borrows too much.

"What do we mean? Well, let me give you a few examples.

"In the next five years, President Obama's budget will double the national debt; in the next ten years it will triple the national debt.

"To say this another way, if you take all the debt of our country run up by all of our presidents from George Washington through George W. Bush, the total debt over all those 200-plus years since we started as a nation, it is President Obama's plan to double that debt in just the first five years that he is in office.

"He is also planning to spend more on the government as a percentage of our economy than at any time since World War II.

"His budget assumes the deficit will average $1 trillion dollars every year for the next 10 years and will add well over $9 trillion dollars in new debts to our children's backs.

"He also is proposing the largest tax increase in history, much of it aimed at taxing small business people who have been, over the years, the best job creators in our economy. And further, he is proposing a massive new national sales tax on your electric bill. So that every time you turn on a light switch in your house, you will be hit with a new tax -- and it averages over $3,000 per household.

"These are staggering numbers and represent an extraordinary move of our government to the left.

"The President to his credit is not trying to hide this; in fact he is very forthright in stating that he believes that by greatly expanding the spending, the taxing and the borrowing of our government, this will lead us to prosperity.

"Here of course is where we differ. We believe you create prosperity by having an affordable government that pursues its responsibilities without excessive costs, taxes or debt. That it is the individual American who creates prosperity and good jobs, not the government.

"We believe that you create energy independence not by sticking Americans with a brand new national sales tax on everyone's electric bill, but by expanding the production of American energy, such as environmentally sound off-shore drilling, nuclear power, wind, solar while also conserving more.

"We also believe you improve everyone's health care not by nationalizing the health care system and putting the government between you and your doctor, but by assuring that every American has access to quality health insurance and choices in health care.

"We believe that you run a sound and affordable government not by running up the national debt to historic levels and unsustainable levels while over-taxing working Americans and spending as if there is no tomorrow, but rather by working on limiting the growth of government in a manner that is affordable not only today but for the next generation through limiting spending and addressing core issues like the cost of entitlements.

"Our nation has an exceptional history of one generation passing on to the next generation a more prosperous and stronger country, but that tradition is being put at risk. The dramatic move to the left and the massive increase in the size and cost of the government, proposed by the budget of President Obama, will lead to an immense national debt that not only threatens the value of the dollar and puts at risk our ability to borrow money to run the government. But it will also place our children at a huge disadvantage as they inherit this debt which will make their chances of success less than those given to us by our parents. It is not right for one generation to do that to another generation.

"Rather, we believe that if you properly steward the responsibilities of the government, if you do not spend too much, if you do not tax too much, if you do not borrow too much, we can leave our children a better nation where they will have even greater opportunity for prosperity, peace and freedom.

"Thank you for taking the time to listen, and have a great weekend."

Judd Gregg: U.S. Couldn't Even Join EU Due to Debt Levels

I'm so glad Sen. Gregg stayed in Congress instead of selling his soul to the devil.

He's already said Obama's Budget will bankrupt the nation and that the White House's math is a "spurious" lie.

Gregg is widely respected for his fiscal opinions and Obama himself gives Gregg's comments a sense of stinging credibility. When the president introduced Gregg as his nominee for Commerce Secretary last month, he said Gregg is known for is fiscal discipline.

From The Hill:

The United States wouldn't even be eligible to enter the European Union if it wanted to because of its debt levels, Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) claimed Thursday.

"We won't even be able to get into the EU if we wanted to," Gregg said this morning on MSNBC, "because our government is so large and so huge."

The European Union's Stability and Growth Pact (SGP) adopted in 1997 requires a budget deficit to be less than three percent, and requires a national debt beneath 60 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

"We've been lectured by France on the fact that we're not fiscally responsible right now," Gregg, the would-be commerce secretary, noted with incredulity.

It's never good when the French socialists are lecturing the U.S. about fiscal responsibility.

VIDEO: MS NBC Anchor and Obama Slobberer Gets Crushed By Sen. Gregg On His "Bankrupt America" Comment

For the record, I detest this liberal piglet Norah O'Donnell.

Yesterday, Gregg said of Obama's budget plan: "This country will go bankrupt".

Gregg won this debate in a landslide!

Nice try, Norah, trying to defend your Messiah. I particularly like when you referred to Gregg's comments as "alarmist"!

Hey kettle, it's the pot. You're black!

Wake up, Norah! Your Messiah is the Alarmist-In-Chief sweetie!

VIDEO: Sen. Gregg On Obama Budget 'This country will go bankrupt'

Senator Judd Gregg said last week that the numbers the Obama Administration is using for its Budget are a lie.

Today, the one time Commerce Secretary Nominee who rightfully withdrew over "irresolvable conflicts", said of Obama's budget, "This country will go bankrupt."

WASHINGTON – The top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee says the Obama administration is on the right course to save the nation's financial system.

But Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire also says President Barack Obama's massive budget proposal will bankrupt the country.

Gregg says he has no regrets in withdrawing his nomination to become commerce secretary. He pulled out after deciding he could not fully back the administration's economic policies.

The senator said Obama's spending plan in the midst of a prolonged recession would leave the next generation with a country too expensive to live in.

Gregg appeared Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."

Yikes! Sen. Gregg Calls Bokonon Obama/Geithner Budget A Lie!

"All of the true things that I am about to tell you are shameless lies."
--from the "Books of Bokonon", "Bokononism" is the fictional religion practiced by many of the characters in Kurt Vonnegut's novel Cat's Cradle. It is based on living by the untruths that make one happy.

Well, duh...! So it goes...

I've been stating for weeks that this budget is full of crap! It's a complete joke! This entire Presidency is based on lies, myths and spin!

President Bokonon Obama lies to make his cronies happy!

MSNBC reported:

It was obvious to most Capitol Hill insiders why President Obama wanted Republican Judd Gregg as a member of his cabinet: He's one of the sharpest money-minds in Congress.

But instead of getting Gregg's counsel within the administration, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner found himself today of the receiving end of Gregg's fiscal conservative wrath.

In a hearing before the Senate Budget Committee Gregg dressed down Geithner with facts, figures, and charts. While always keeping his cool, the exchange was somewhere between a mother's scolding, a drill sergeant's questioning and an attorney's cross examination.

In his opening statement, Gregg politely called the administration's budget forecast a lie.

"The argument that it cuts the debt in half in four years is, ahh, is truly spurious," he told Geithner.

President Obama himself gives Gregg's comments a sense of stinging credibility. When the president introduced Gregg as his nominee for Commerce Secretary last month, he said Gregg is known for is fiscal discipline.

Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark!

Obama's $1 Trillion Tax Hike; Plan Will Bankrupt America

It's mind-boggling the amount of money President Obama and the Liberal Social-Crats are playing with.

It's unsustainable and will, in fact, bankrupt our nation.

From The NY Post:

WASHINGTON - Big government is back - and so are big taxes. President Obama unveiled a mammoth, $3.6 trillion budget yesterday that would dramatically boost federal spending almost across the board - and pay for it with tax hikes of $1 trillion on individuals and businesses over the next decade.

Experts immediately tagged the new president's supersized spending plan the most sweeping government overhaul since Lyndon Johnson's Great Society in the 1960s.

Marty Regalia, the chief economist at the US Chamber of Commerce, called it "the biggest return to the welfare state that we've seen in decades."

The budget would create an eye-popping $1.8 trillion deficit for the 2009 fiscal year - the highest ever in dollar terms - amounting to a 12.3 percent share of the economy, which is the largest since 1945.

The big budget - which Obama released two days after telling Congress the "day of reckoning" for past economic blunders had arrived - encompasses his key priorities, from a troop drawdown in Iraq to big new investments in health, science, and education.

Republicans immediately balked at the spending free-for-all.

House GOP leader John Boehner of Ohio said, "The era of big government is back, and Democrats are asking you to pay for it. We can't continue to pile debt on the backs of our kids and grandkids."

Senator Judd Gregg appeared on last night's "Hannity" and stated, without reservation, the Obama budget and Congressional Spend-a-thon, will bankrupt our nation.

Senator Gregg: This budget does nothing to get under control what I call the fiscal tsunami which is this huge cost that is coming at our country and specifically at the next generation to support my generation as we retire. And it will basically overwhelm our children and our grand children... Basically, it will bankrupt our country... The spending in this budget expands. In my opinion there is excessive spending on the entitlement side which is where we should have savings rather than new spending. And, of course, there is a lot of new taxes here about 1.4 trillion dollars.

Sean Hannity: Senator, you say it is going to bankrupt the country...

Senator Gregg: It is going to bankrupt the country.

Sen. Judd Gregg Withdraws His Nomination For Commerce Secretary, "Irresolvable Conflicts" With Obama on Stimulus, Census

Drudge reports:

Senator Gregg Statement on His Withdrawal for Consideration of U.S.

Commerce Secretary Sen. Gregg stated, “I want to thank the President for nominating me to serve in his Cabinet as Secretary of Commerce. This was a great honor, and I had felt that I could bring some views and ideas that would assist him in governing during this difficult time. I especially admire his willingness to reach across the aisle.

“However, it has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me. Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns. We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy.

“Obviously the President requires a team that is fully supportive of all his initiatives.

“I greatly admire President Obama and know our country will benefit from his leadership, but at this time I must withdraw my name from consideration for this position.

“As we move forward, I expect there will be many issues and initiatives where I can and will work to assure the success of the President’s proposals. This will certainly be a goal of mine.

“Kathy and I also want to specifically thank Governor Lynch and Bonnie Newman for their friendship and assistance during this period. In addition we wish to thank all the people, especially in New Hampshire, who have been so kind and generous in their supportive comments.

“As a further matter of clarification, nothing about the vetting process played any role in this decision. I will continue to represent the people of New Hampshire in the United States Senate.”

Good for you Judd Gregg! You never should have accepted in the first place, but we applaud you for having some conservative values and placing principle over promotion. A lesson that our President can stand to learn.

Update: President Obama was "surprised":

[Judd's withdraw] "comes as something of a surprise, because the truth, you know, Mr. Gregg approached us with interest and seemed enthusiastic.’

Update: Press Room Village Idiot Robert Gibbs, in what is becoming an Obama tradition, threw Gregg under the proverbial bus.

“Senator Gregg reached out to the President and offered his name for Secretary of Commerce. He was very clear throughout the interviewing process that despite past disagreements about policies, he would support, embrace, and move forward with the President’s agenda. Once it became clear after his nomination that Senator Gregg was not going to be supporting some of President Obama’s key economic priorities, it became necessary for Senator Gregg and the Obama administration to part ways. We regret that he has had a change of heart.”

Obama Census Decision Unconstitutional; Latino and Black Groups Do Not Trust Judd Gregg

This is making less sense every day. Why, exactly, is Judd Gregg being considered for Commerce Secretary? Remember, he voted to destroy the Commerce Department before he chose to lead it.

Earlier this week, we discussed how President Obama will have the Census Secretary report to Rahm Emanuel instead of the Commerce Secretary designee Gregg.

We claimed (correctly) that this is nothing short of political chicanery designed to re-draw congressional districts to favor total Democratic Totalitarian control of the country.

Now, Congressional Quarterly is reporting this:

The decision came after black and Hispanic leaders raised questions about Commerce Secretary nominee Judd Gregg ’s commitment to funding the census.

Gregg, New Hampshire’s senior senator, voted in committee and on the floor for a 1995 Republican budget that envisioned the elimination of the Commerce Department. Of even more concern to black and Hispanic leaders, Gregg battled President Clinton over a request for “emergency” funding for the 2000 census.

“Secretary of Commerce-designate Judd Gregg ’s record raises serious questions about his willingness to ensure that the 2010 census produces the most accurate possible count of the nation’s population,” the National Association of Latino Elected Officials said in a release on Tuesday, the day Gregg was named to the post. “Policymakers and planners at all levels of government rely on these data to make important decisions about their services, such as the number of teachers that will be needed in their classrooms, the best places to build new roads, or the best way to provide job training.”

The selection of Republican Gregg for Commerce — a plum post often given out to a big fundraiser or personal friend in the president’s own party — left many Democrats scratching their heads and others fearful that Gregg might not defend favored agencies and programs with the department.

“Sen. Gregg’s record of previously voting to abolish the Commerce Department and his attempts to block President Bill Clinton’s efforts to secure adequate funding for the 2000 census raise troubling concerns regarding his commitment to the department’s core missions,” Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman Barbara Lee , D-Calif., said Tuesday.

Remember, also, the Congressional Radical Anti-American Pork (CRAAP) Spending bill includes $1 Billion dollars "to minimize undercounting of minorites" in the 2010 Census.

So, now that we know the reason for the Census Bureau change is completely and totally politically motivated (change, right?), now we find it illegal also!

From Samizdata:

In Article I, Section 2 the US Constitution orders that "The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct."

The Congress, by law directed that:

"The Secretary [of Commerce] shall perform the functions and duties imposed upon him by this title, may issue such rules and regulations as he deems necessary to carry out such functions and duties, and may delegate the performance of such functions and duties and the authority to issue such rules and regulations to such officers and employees of the Department of Commerce as he may designate."

Anyone in the main stream media besides Fox News covering this?

Of course not.

Obama Hypocrisy 2.0: "I Screwed Up; Secretary Peter Griffin: "The President Trumped the Priniciples"; Yet Only This Time, What About The Others?

“I screwed up," President Obama said yesterday in reference to Daschle-gate, adding, “I’m frustrated with myself” for unintentionally sending a message that there are “two sets of rules” for paying taxes, “one for prominent people and one for ordinary folks.”

“I take responsibility for this mistake,” he told Fox News.

"I think in the interest of getting those appointments, the president trumped the principles he laid out in the campaign and he took responsibility for that," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said earlier today.

We're just wondering something. If you "screwed up" and unintentionally sent a message that there are "two sets of rules" and that "the president trumped the principles"... why are Geithner, Geithner's top aide and recent lobbyist Mark Patterson, and Deputy Attorney General William J. Lynn still on the payroll?

So, you are a liar? There really ARE "two sets of rules" here, Mr. President.

If anyone can make sense of this and prove that the President is not lieing and is not demonstrating a double standard, comment below.

We're not buying it.

And apparently, convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff, is only a stain on Republican Presidents. Commerce Secretary Sen. Judd Gregg confirmed an ex aide is under investigation in connection with disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Obama Hypocrisy 2.0: Sen. Judd Gregg Voted to Kill Commerce Before He Agreed to Lead It

A tax cheat was confirmed, the tax cheat hired a lobbyist and violated the ethics rule, another lobbyist was hired that violated the ethics rule, a tax cheat withdrew her nomination, another tax cheat withdrew his nomination.

Now, President Obama nominates a guy to head a department that the nominee wanted to eliminate?

If you can't beat it, lead it.

From CQ Politics:

President Obama’s new candidate to run the Commerce Department voted in favor of abolishing the agency as a member of the Budget Committee and on the Senate floor in 1995.

Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., whose nomination was expected to be announced Tuesday, also worked in the Senate to trim the department’s budget as head of the Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations Subcommittee.

Gregg’s 1995 votes were cast for the fiscal 1996 budget resolution, a nonbinding blueprint that outlined the GOP’s fiscal priorities after Republicans won full control of Congress for the first time in 40 years.

The Senate version of the controversial measure envisioned spending cuts of more than $960 billion, almost half of it from Medicare and Medicaid. Democratic efforts to amend it were uniformly rebuked by a united GOP majority on the Budget Committee.

Ultimately, the Commerce Department survived, and Gregg has since shown more interest than most of his Republican colleagues in funding some of its agencies, particularly the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Gregg also fought President Bill Clinton’s efforts to increase funding for the Commerce Department to administer the 2000 census. Indeed, Gregg’s commitment to basic functions of the department has been questioned at times.

“He was generally pretty harsh on them and not really interested in their programs, especially the commerce side of things,” said a Democratic appropriations aide.

The aide also called Gregg “really smart and hard-working” and said he would work well within Obama’s Cabinet.

It is not unprecedented for a lawmaker who supported abolishing a Cabinet department to take its helm. In 2001, the recently defeated Sen. Spencer Abraham, R‑Mich., was confirmed to run the Energy Department even though he had once cosponsored legislation to eliminate it.

Still, even some Republicans are surprised by Gregg’s apparent enthusiasm for the job. “I guess if you can’t destroy it, go be in charge of it,” said a Senate Republican aide.

Neither Gregg’s office nor the White House replied to requests for comment.

Sources: Gov. to Give Gregg Senate Seat to Republican Newman

Al Franken is expected to win Minnesota's Senate race and President Obama nominated Republican Senator Judd Gregg to be Commerce Secretary.

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch will appoint Gregg's replacement to the Senate upon Gregg's confirmation.

By appointing a Democrat, the Senate would have a filibuster-proof "Super Majority" and Republicans would have no means to block any radical socialist legislation introduced.

CONCORD, N.H. -Two sources involved in discussions about replacing New Hampshire GOP Sen. Judd Gregg say Gov. John Lynch will appoint Republican Bonnie Newman to replace Gregg.

The sources asked not to be identified because neither was authorized to speak before Lynch's announcement. President Obama is to nominate Gregg to be U.S. commerce secretary, but Gregg has said he would leave the Senate only if the balance of power there is maintained.

Newman was Gregg's former chief of staff and has held prominent leadership positions in government, higher education and the private sector.
