Sen. Jim Inhofe 's (R-OK) statement on the floor in opposition to Geithner.
From Politico:
Timothy Geithner was sworn in as Treasury secretary Monday night, less than two hours after he was confirmed by the Senate.
“At this moment of challenge and crisis, Tim’s work and the work of the entire Treasury Department must begin at once,” President Barack Obama said during a brief ceremony at the Treasury Department. “We cannot lose a day because every day the economic picture is darkening here and across the globe.”
10 Republicans voted to cofirm:
Corker (TN), Cornyn (TX), Crapo (ID), Ensign (NV), Graham (SC), Gregg (NH), Hatch (UT), Shelby (AL), Snowe (ME), Voinovich (OH)
4 Democrats voted against:
Byrd (WV), Feingold (WI), Harkin (IA), Sanders (I-VT)
In addition to cheating on his taxes and mistakenly blaming TurboTax for his problems, Secretary Geithner was heavily involved in the failed TARP program that will be blamed on President Bush and Henry Paulson.
