It was Coleman's race to win, and he blew it. I was a Coleman supporter; I know the guy, I've met him many times, I've donated to his campaigns. He was well in the lead going into the final stretch, but then that first $750 billion bailout bill came up last fall (remember that one?), and his office was deluged with phone calls, letters, and emails from his supporters and constituents telling him NOT to vote for it. I contacted him too, and for my time and trouble got a nice little form letter back saying he appreciated my opinion but was going to vote for the bailout anyway, and if that vote cost him the election, so be it.
ReplyDeleteWell, it cost him the election. So be it. This won't be the first time Minnesota has put a clown in high office, and I'm pretty sure it won't be the last, either.
