Harry Reid accuses GOP of undermining national security (Video)

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Who is he trying to kid?

Politico reports:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is accusing Republicans of undermining national security, saying GOP filibusters of White House nominees are leaving critical posts empty at the State Department and Department of Homeland Security.

In caustic opening remarks on the Senate floor Tuesday morning, Reid said Republicans are playing "games" while the nation remains under terrorist threat.

“Republicans have repeatedly asked fearful families to put their concerns on hold while they score political points and play partisan games," Reid said.

The majority leader, who is increasingly frustrated with his chamber's inability to confirm certain White House nominees, says Republicans have "exploited" and "abused" the rules of the Senate to grind the government to a halt.

Obama On CNN: CIA Investigation "Not A Witch Hunt" (Video)

On "State of the Union," John King asked President Obama about the investigation into Bush CIA people over torture.

Obama said that while he wants to "look forward" and not in reverse, "Nobody is above the law."

"I have no interest in witch hunts, but the law's the law."

I guess he really is that cocky that all former CIA chiefs are opposed to his radical anti-American mentality.

Putin, Russia Victory: Obama Scraps Bush Missile Defense Plan For Europe

Yahoo news:

President Barack Obama has decided to scrap plans for a U.S. missile defense shield in the Czech Republic and Poland that had deeply angered Russia, the Czech prime minister confirmed Thursday.

NATO's new chief hailed the move as "a positive step" and a Russian analyst said Obama's decision will increase the chances that Russia will cooperate more closely with the United States in the dispute over Iran's nuclear program.

Premier Jan Fischer told reporters that Obama phoned him overnight to say that "his government is pulling out of plans to build a missile defense radar on Czech territory."

"The same happened with Poland. Poland was informed in the same way about this intention," Fischer said.

He said Obama assured him that the "strategic cooperation" between the Czech Republic and the U.S. would continue, and that Washington considers the Czechs among its closest allies.

In Poland, officials declined to confirm Fischer's remarks, saying they were waiting for a formal announcement from Washington.

The plan, proposed by the Bush administration, aimed to defend the United States and its European allies against a possible missile attack from Iran or elsewhere in the Middle East. In all, 10 interceptor rockets were to have been stationed in Poland and a radar system based in the Czech Republic.

But Russia was livid over the prospect of having U.S. interceptor rockets in countries so close to its territory, and the Obama administration has sought to improve strained ties with the Kremlin.

"The U.S. president's decision is a well-thought (out) and systematic one," said Konstantin Kosachev, head of the foreign affairs committee in the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament. "It reflects understanding that any security measure can't be built entirely on the basis of one nation."

Russia, Iran, Venezuela Continue To Forge Anti-US Alliance; Senate Approves Military Cuts

"We will supply Venezuela the weapons that Venezuela asks for. Why not tanks? Without question, we have good tanks. If our friends want our tanks, we will deliver them."

-- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev

The US and Russia have given differing responses to Iran's latest proposals on its nuclear programme.

Anyone else sense a growing problem here? Then again, our President wants to cozy up to the communists and radicals who run these three dangerous countries. Is he naive or crazy or does he really hate America as much as it seems?

Yahoo News:

BARVIKHA, Russia (Reuters) – Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez cemented a closer alliance with Russia on Thursday, recognizing two pro-Russian rebel regions of Georgia as independent and securing arms supplies and loans in return.

Chavez's move to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia is a rare diplomatic success for Russia, which has tried for over a year to persuade its allies to follow its lead and treat the two small regions as sovereign. Only Nicaragua had agreed so far.

"Venezuela from today is joining in the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia," Chavez told President Dmitry Medvedev through a translator at the Russian leader's residence outside Moscow.

Caracas would start the process of establishing diplomatic relations with them soon, he added.

The rest of the world views the two regions, which threw off Georgian rule in the early 1990s and have run their own affairs since, as an integral part of Georgia. The issue has become a key sticking point in relations between the West and Russia.

President Dmitry Medvedev thanked Chavez, who is visiting Moscow, for his support. Shortly afterwards he said Russia would supply tanks and other weapons sought by Venezuela.

"We will supply Venezuela the weapons that Venezuela asks for," Medvedev said after their talks.

"Why not tanks? Without question, we have good tanks. If our friends want our tanks, we will deliver them."

No details were given of the arms deal but Russia's state RIA news agency quoted a military source as saying Venezuela would buy 100 tanks for $500 million. The two sides also announced plans for a joint bank with capital of $4 billion to finance their projects.

Venezuela wants to beef up its weaponry to resist what Chavez terms U.S. imperialism in Latin America. Tension has also been rising with neighboring Colombia, a close U.S. ally and historic rival of Venezuela.

Leftwing Puts America At Risk Again! John Adams Project Showing Terrorists Pictures Of CIA Agents (Video)

The Left simply does not understand national security.

Obama has attacked the CIA, Nancy Pelosi had attacked the CIA and now this.

O'Reilly reported this yesterday:

You'll remember the Valerie Plame situation, where the former CIA operative was publicly named in a weapons of mass destruction controversy. Led by NBC News and The New York Times, the left-wing media went nuts, and ultimately Scooter Libby, a top adviser to Vice President Cheney, was convicted of a crime.

Now we have a situation that is far worse, and the left-wing media is totally silent.

A group calling itself the John Adams Project, affiliated with the ACLU, is secretly photographing CIA agents and showing the pictures to suspected terrorists at Guantanamo Bay, among others. Activist lawyers Joshua Dratel, Edward MacMahon and Nina Ginsberg are just three members of the Adams group who are putting CIA agents in grave danger. "Factor" producer Dan Bank caught up with Ms. Ginsberg:

CIA Chief Panetta Believes Cheney Wants US Attacked

Until now, I was hoping that Washington veteran Leon Panetta would be a somewhat moderate voice of reason and pragmatism within the Obama Administration. This pretty much squashes that idea.

WASHINGTON, June 14 (Reuters) - CIA director Leon Panetta says it's almost as if former vice president Dick Cheney would like to see another attack on the United States to prove he is right in criticizing President Barack Obama for abandoning the "harsh interrogation" of terrorism suspects.

"I think he smells some blood in the water on the national security issue," Panetta said in an interview published in The New Yorker magazine's June 22 issue.

"It's almost, a little bit, gallows politics. When you read behind it, it's almost as if he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point."

It's amazing how the Left views Cheney's difference of opinion; could it actually be possible that Cheney is truly concerned about protecting America?

The Weekly Standard reported Cheney's response to Panetta:

Dick Cheney released a statement responded to CIA Director Leon Panetta's suggestion that the former vice president's criticism of Obama administration policies means Cheney is wishing for another attack.

"I hope my old friend Leon was misquoted. The important thing is whether the Obama administration will continue the policies that have kept us safe for the last eight years."

Panetta was quoted in a lengthy profile by Jane Mayer in this week's New Yorker.

Never before have we seen such a fued between two Presidential Administrations. Don't look for it to cease anytime soon.

Bush Press Secretary Dana Perino: Cheney Doesn't Give A Rat's Ass About His Reputation (Video)

The spin is that Cheney, like his former boss George Bush, cares more about America than he does about his own ego.

Former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino says that the media is obsessed with discussion Dick Cheney's motivation to comment on President Obama's policies. "I wish they spent half as much time going after terrorists than they do going after Dick Cheney," she said."

In addition, she told Laura Ingraham, on the integrity of the Bush administration: "Vice President Cheney doesn't give a rat's you-know-what about his own personal reputation."

Let's Get It On! Obama Vs. Cheney On GITMO, Terrorism: President Cites "Mess," Cheney Slams "Rhetoric" and Defends CIA (Video)

Ouch!

"Releasing the interrogation memos was flatly contrary to the national security interest of the United States. The harm done only begins with top secret information now in the hands of the terrorists, who have just received a lengthy insert for their training manual. Across the world, governments that have helped us capture terrorists will fear that sensitive joint operations will be compromised. And at the CIA, operatives are left to wonder if they can depend on the White House or Congress to back them up when the going gets tough. Why should any agency employee take on a difficult assignment when, even though they act lawfully and in good faith, years down the road the press and Congress will treat everything they do with suspicion, outright hostility, and second-guessing? Some members of Congress are notorious for demanding they be briefed into the most sensitive intelligence programs. They support them in private, and then head for the hills at the first sign of controversy."

Vice President Dick Cheney
Remarks at the American Enterprise Institute
Thursday, May 21, 2009

Politico reports:

In an extraordinary cross-town debate carried live across the TV airwaves, President Barack Obama and former Vice President Dick Cheney battled Thursday over the Bush administration’s policies on the war on terror, with Cheney attacking the new president for seeking to dismantle practices that he said kept America safe ever since 9/11.

Cheney also says those who call Bush interrogation practices torture – as Obama has – people who engage in “contrived indignation and phony moralizing on the interrogation methods applied to a few captured terrorists.”

Obama, in turn, said President George W. Bush decimated the nation’s values and beliefs in a hastily conceived, poorly executed plan that left him a “mess” at Guantanamo Bay and American’s image abroad in tatters.

Obama declared Thursday that the only responsible way to clean up “a mess” left over by the Bush administration at Guantanamo Bay is to bring some prisoners to the U.S. for trial, despite the intense resistance to that idea in Congress.

“In dealing with this situation, we do not have the luxury of starting from scratch. We are cleaning up something that is – quite simply – a mess; a misguided experiment that has left in its wake a flood of legal challenges that my Administration is forced to deal with on a constant basis,” Obama said. “The problem exists because of the decision to open Guantanamo in the first place.”

But it was Cheney who was on the attack in his speech at the American Enterprise Institute, leveling a broadside against Obama at a time when some in the Republican party want to move forward rather than relitigate the unpopular Bush years.

“If liberals are unhappy about some decisions, and conservatives are unhappy about other decisions, then it may seem to them that the President is on the path of sensible compromise,” Cheney said. “But in the fight against terrorism, there is no middle ground, and half-measures keep you half exposed.”

“You cannot keep just some nuclear-armed terrorists out of the United States, you must keep every nuclear-armed terrorist out of the United States. Triangulation is a political strategy, not a national security strategy,” Cheney said. “There is never a good time to compromise when the lives and safety of the American people are in the balance. “

On the specific issues of the harsh interrogation practices and the Guantanamo detention center, Cheney was equally aggressive.

“The released memos were carefully redacted to leave out references to what our government learned through the methods in question,” the former vice president said of the declassified documents released last month. “Other memos, laying out specific terrorist plots that were averted, apparently were not even considered for release. For reasons the administration has yet to explain, they believe the public has a right to know the method of the questions, but not the content of the answers.”

He added: “Releasing the interrogation memos was flatly contrary to the national security interest of the United States.”

Joe Biden Gaffe Of The Day: Reveals Location of Secret VP Bunker

Jesus! What is this guy's problem! This isn't just another silly blunder.

Joe Biden joins Nancy Pelosi in violating their oath to protect and defend the Constitution. Another case of Team "O" jeopardizing national security. When will it end?

Fox News reports:

Vice President Joe Biden, well-known for his verbal gaffes, may have finally outdone himself, divulging potentially classified information meant to save the life of a sitting vice president.

According to a report, while recently attending the Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, an annual event where powerful politicians and media elite get a chance to cozy up to one another, Biden told his dinnermates about the existence of a secret bunker under the old U.S. Naval Observatory, which is now the home of the vice president.

The bunker is believed to be the secure, undisclosed location former Vice President Dick Cheney remained under protection in secret after the 9/11 attacks.

Eleanor Clift, Newsweek magazine's Washington contributing editor, said Biden revealed the location while filling in for President Obama at the dinner, who, along with Grover Cleveland, is the only president to skip the gathering.

According to the report, Biden "said a young naval officer giving him a tour of the residence showed him the hideaway, which is behind a massive steel door secured by an elaborate lock with a narrow connecting hallway lined with shelves filled with communications equipment."

Clift continued: "The officer explained that when Cheney was in lock down, this was where his most trusted aides were stationed, an image that Biden conveyed in a way that suggested we shouldn't be surprised that the policies that emerged were off the wall."
