From Newsmax. Interview on Fox News Sunday
WASHINGTON – Vice President Dick Cheney says he's guessing that al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden is still alive.
Bin Laden has escaped capture since the Sept. 11 attacks. Cheney says capturing him is something the Bush administration "clearly would love to do" in the last few weeks in office.
Cheney says he and President George W. Bush would have preferred to have gotten bin Laden right after the attacks in 2001. But Cheney says the U.S. has made progress in undermining the al-Qaida network.
Cheney says bin Laden has been holed up in a such a way that there are questions about whether he is even running the al-Qaida operation.
Cheney spoke on "Fox News Sunday."
Cheney also defended the Bush administration's effort to combat terrorism and the resulting expansion of government to do so.
But Vice President Dick Cheney says what Abraham Lincoln did during the Civil War and what Franklin Roosevelt did during World War II went far beyond what the Bush administration has done.
Cheney says the Bush administration has exercised what he thinks is the legitimate authority of the president's constitutional powers as commander in chief to help defend the country. Cheney is defending policies on detainees, terrorist surveillance and intelligence gathering as justified in a time of war.
It's amazing to us how little respect the Liberals and the moveon.organists have for Cheney. The character assassination on both him and President Bush show nothing than more than how uneducated and blinded the Left have become.
We respect and admire Cheney for his lifetime of service to America.
