Iranian students say they're doomed if Obama recognizes Iran's election result (Video)

Looks like they will be doomed then with hands-off, non-committal responses like this from Team Obama:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the U.S. would continue to monitor the situation closely.

"But we, like the rest of the world, are waiting and watching to see what the Iranian people decide," she said at a news conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario. "The United States has refrained from commenting on the election in Iran. We obviously hope that the outcome reflects the genuine will and desire of the Iranian people."

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said the Obama administration was "impressed by the vigorous debate and enthusiasm that this election generated, particularly among young Iranians."

Hot Air sum it up this way:

Much depends on the meaning of “accepts,” though, doesn’t it? I’m sure we’ll get some patented Hopenchange drivel tomorrow about “grave concerns,” etc, but if Iran’s kids are expecting The One to walk away from nuke negotiations in protest of the coup, they’re kidding themselves. For one thing, that’s something Bush would do, and of course Bush was never, evah right. For another, if Obama walks away then he’s essentially betting all his chips on a full-blown counterrevolution to erupt and topple the regime. If it doesn’t, or if it’s put down a la Tiananmen Square, Khamenei et al. will be in no mood to forgive and forget. Which means it’s either war to take out Iran’s nuke infrastructure or learn to stop worrying and love the Iranian bomb. Israelis are learning already!

As Expected, Iran Downplays Obama Video

This morning, The White House released a taped message from President Obama to the people of Iran.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that yet again, Iran is laughing at our cowardly President.

Breitbart reports:

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Iran played down President Barack Obama's new video message to the Iranian people on Friday, saying it welcomed the overtures but warned that decades of mistrust can't easily be erased.

Obama released the video to coincide with the major Iranian festival of Nowruz, a 12-day holiday that marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of the new year in Iran. In the video, which has Farsi subtitles, Obama said the U.S. is prepared to end the strained relations if Tehran tones down its combative rhetoric.

But in the first government reaction to the video, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's press adviser said "minor changes will not end the differences" between Tehran and Washington.

"Obama has talked of change but has taken no practical measures to address America's past mistakes in Iran. If Mr. Obama takes concrete actions and makes fundamental changes in U.S. foreign policy toward other nations including Iran, the Iranian government and people will not turn their back on him," Ali Akbar Javanfekr told the Iranian state-run English-language Press TV satellite station.

It wasn't clear how many Iranians were able to see the video, which was not aired on state television in Iran on Friday. It was likely shown on Farsi-language TV stations beamed in from outside of the country, but many Iranians don't watch television in the first days of long Nowruz holiday that is normally filled with family gatherings or vacations away from home.

Iranians could see the video on the White House Web site, but other popular video sharing sites like YouTube are blocked in Iran.

Iranian President Declares His Country a Space and Nuclear Power!

Hooray!

TEHRAN, March 13 (RIA Novosti) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Friday that pressure from Western powers trying to keep Iran in economic isolation have in fact spurred the country to become a space and nuclear power.

"Had you not been bad-tempered and blocked the way, the Iranian nation would not have been present in space, and would not have become a nuclear power," Fars news agency quoted Ahmadinejad as saying at the inauguration ceremony of a natural gas deposit in the Bushehr province.

Iran put its first communications satellite, Omid (Hope), into a near Earth orbit on February 2. The research satellite was carried into orbit by a home-made launch vehicle, Safir (Messenger). Iranian Communications Minister Mohammad Soleimani earlier said that the country's scientists were working on the creation of four new satellites to be placed into near-Earth orbit.

The Iranian president said Western powers are unable to stop Iran's technological and scientific progress with their "spiteful actions." He also called the international economic sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program a "grave blunder."

"Of course, we believe that the Iranian nation can tread the path to progress under God's mercy," he said.

Iran Celebrates Anniversary of Islamic Revolution: Stick-Wielding Mob Attacks Former President, Obama Burned In Effigy, A-Jad Wants "Mutual Respect"

Remember, Iran thinks that engaging in talks makes us look weak and signals the end of America as a world power.

Ahmadinejad, wants an apology from Obama, denies the holocaust, and the Irani government supplies weapons to terror groups in Iraq and Palestine and is suspected of developing a nuclear weapon to help Hamas wipe Israel (and US Interests) off the face of the earth.

From Al-Jazeera:
Thousands of Iranians chanting anti-US slogans have rallied in the capital Tehran, celebrating 30 years of the Iranian revolution. Addressing the rally on Tuesday, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, said Iran is ready for dialogue with the US provided the talks were based on mutual respect.

As many in the crowd carried placards reading "Death to America" and set alight US flags, he said: "The new US administration has announced that they want to produce change and pursue the course of dialogue. "It is quite clear that real change must be fundamental and not tactical. It is clear the Iranian nation welcomes real changes. "The Iranian nation is ready to hold talks but talks in a fair atmosphere with mutual respect."

Ahmadinejad lauded the revolution, which toppled the Shah. "The Iranian revolution, although it started in Iran and is the core of the Iranian nation, it belongs to all nations anywhere in the world," he said.

"The Iranian revolution has brought great results. Over the past 30 years, Iran has been moving to the top. It has increased its speed in the fields of scientific research.

"Because of suppression and relying on a foreign country, the scientific
research work had not been developing," Ahmadinejad said, referring to US and Western sanctions imposed on Iran.

Iranian perspective

Seyed Mohammed Marandi, a professor at the University of Tehran, told Al Jazeera: "The people burning the US flag shows how angry they are at the US. [US president Barack] Obama says Iran should change, but Iran sees it the other way round.

"America has imposed sanctions that have ruined the economy... they[Iranians] do not yet trust this administration" Seyed Mohammed Marandi, professor at the University of Tehran"Hundreds of thousands of American troops surround Iran, not the other way round. America has imposed sanctions that have ruined the economy. They [Iranians] do not yet trust this administration."

The Times Online reported:

Iran’s former president was set upon by an angry stick-wielding mob today amid celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution on the streets of Tehran. The attack on Mohammed Khatami came just two days after the reformist cleric announced he would be running against the hardline incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in June's presidential elections.

"A-Jad" also has these words of encouragement:

TEHRAN, Feb. 10 (ISNA)-Iran’s President said the country is ready for dialogue under just climate and mutual respect.

The US new administration has announced it wants to bring change and take the path of dialogue, it is very clear that the change must be fundamental instead of tactical, said Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Tuesday to tens of thousands of Iranians who gathered in Azadi (Freedom) square in Tehran to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Islamic Revolution.

“Iran’s nation welcomes real changes, Iran’s nation is ready for dialogue, but dialogue in a just climate and with mutual respect.”

Iran’s nation is a true and real superpower, Ahmadinejad added, Iran is a competent and justice-seeker power that befriends all nations and has no eye for territories and interests of others.

****It is impossible that someone presumes he is able to threaten Iran’s nation.

“Today, the world is passing materialism, authoritarianism and bullying era and the time when the military and economic power could have the supreme role, the world is on the verge of entering the era of thoughts, logic and dialogue.”

They (the West) said they want to defy terrorism, Iranians have been fighting against terrorists for 30 years, and if they really want to defy the phenomenon they should cooperate with Iran’s nation that is the biggest victim of terrorism, he said.
Wow, and we thought our President was full of "doom and gloom".

Dear President Obama, Maybe That Whole "Meeting With Iran Without Precondition" Thing Was A Mistake? It's Time to Change Your Policy

Change That Makes America Look Weak In The Eyes of The Enemy

President Obama, maybe you need to reconsider your diplomacy.

Just days ago, Iran President Mahmoud, in a move to belittle America, called on Obama to apologize for America's past treatment of Iran.

Now the Irani government confirms that Obama's push for "open" diplomacy with Iran makes the United States look weak.

Remember what happened last time Radical Islamists saw the United States as weak?

From Breitbart:

US President Barack Obama's offer to talk to Iran shows that America's policy of "domination" has failed, the government spokesman said on Saturday.

"This request means Western ideology has become passive, that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed," Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.

"Negotiation is secondary, the main issue is that there is no way but for (the United States) to change," he added.
"If countries like Iran are willing to unclench their fist, they will find an extended hand from us," Obama told al-Arabyi in his controversial first televised interview as sitting President.

CBS News' Leily Lankarani in Tehran reports Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman has turned that comment around on Washington. "If there is any clenched fist in the world, it is the fist of the U.S.A.," Hasan Ghashghavi told a group of journalists Wednesday during a visit to Japan. "Now, in the aftermath of President Obama's slogan of 'change,' the world is waiting to see what is in the unclenched fist of President Obama," said Ghashghavi.

Iranian government spokesman Gholam Hossien Elham said Tuesday: "We will watch to see whether a change has occurred or not, and we shall monitor the (political) ambience and will make our remarks in the right time." Balance that on the fact that Elham was attending a conference called "Holocaust: A Sacred Lie of the West."

NPR has more from Ahmadinejad.

  • On Wednesday, Iran's President Ahmadinejad made it clear that as far as he was concerned, the U.S. would have to remove the perceived threat to his nation before Iran could believe the new U.S. president was serious about engagement.

  • Wherever there is war, Ahmadinejad told a crowd in the western city of Kermanshah, it is either because of America's military presence or America's improper interference. When they say the policy is going to change, Ahmadinejad said, it means they should remove their military forces and take them to their own borders.

Obama and Iran: And The Open Dialogue Without Preconditions Begins. Ahmadinejad Wants Apology From Obama

Barack Obama supports tough and direct diplomacy with Iran without preconditions. -- WhiteHouse.gov

Change that radical Islamic political leaders can spit on! I wish this was a joke, if might actually be funny. But it's quite serious.

Ahmadinejad asks President Obama to apologize for US anti-terror, pro-democracy efforts over the last 60 years.

The New York Times reported:

A day after President Obama struck a conciliatory tone toward Iran, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad urged Washington on Wednesday to apologize for its actions toward his country over the past 60 years and said it was unclear whether the new American administration was merely shifting tactics or wanted real change.

But, in a speech in the western city of Kermanshah, he did not explicitly rebuff the American president’s gesture.

“We are waiting patiently,” he said, referring to the policies of the new administration in Washington. “We will listen to the statements closely, we will carefully study their actions and if there are real changes, we will welcome it.

”Mr. Obama, in his first television interview at the White House since taking office, said that it was important to be willing to talk to the Iranians, both to express differences and to explore “where there are potential avenues for progress.”

“And as I said during my inauguration speech, if countries like Iran are willing to unclench their fist, they will find an extended hand from us,” Mr. Obama said in the interview with Al Arabiya television that was broadcast on Tuesday.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton also said Tuesday that Iran had a “clear opportunity” to engage with the international community.

It didn't take too long for The President to apologize...

From The Guardian:

Officials of Barack Obama's administration have drafted a letter to Iran from the president aimed at unfreezing US-Iranian relations and opening the way for face-to-face talks, the Guardian has learned.

The US state department has been working on drafts of the letter since Obama was elected on 4 November last year. It is in reply to a lengthy letter of congratulations sent by the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, on 6 November.

Diplomats said Obama's letter would be a symbolic gesture to mark a change in tone from the hostile one adopted by the Bush administration, which portrayed Iran as part of an "axis of evil".

It would be intended to allay the suspicions of Iran's leaders and pave the way for Obama to engage them directly, a break with past policy.

Ahmadinejad denies the holocaust, and the Irani government supplies weapons to terror groups in Iraq and Palestine and is suspected of developing a nuclear weapon to help Hamas wipe Israel (and US Interests) off the face of the earth.

The Full Text of Irani President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Chistmas Message

Terrorist Leader Ahmadinejad claims Jesus would side with Islam.

"In the Name of God the Compassionate, the Merciful.

"Upon the anniversary of the birth of Jesus, Son of Mary, the Word of God, the Messenger of mercy, I would like to congratulate the followers of Abrahamic faiths, especially the followers of Jesus Christ, and the people of Britain.

"The Almighty created the universe for human beings and human beings for Himself.

"He created every human being with the ability to reach the heights of perfection. He called on man to make every effort to live a good life in this world and to work to achieve his everlasting life.

"On this difficult and challenging journey of man from dust to the divine, He did not leave humanity to its own devices. He chose from those He created the most excellent as His Prophets to guide humanity.

"All Prophets called for the worship of God, for love and brotherhood, for the establishment of justice and for love in human society. Jesus, the Son of Mary, is the standard-bearer of justice, of love for our fellow human beings, of the fight against tyranny, discrimination and injustice.

"All the problems that have bedevilled humanity throughout the ages came about because humanity followed an evil path and disregarded the message of the Prophets.

"Now as human society faces a myriad of problems and a succession of complex crises, the root causes can be found in humanity's rejection of that message, in particular the indifference of some governments and powers towards the teachings of the divine Prophets, especially those of Jesus Christ.

"The crises in society, the family, morality, politics, security and the economy which have made life hard for humanity and continue to put great pressure on all nations have come about because the Prophets have been forgotten, the Almighty has been forgotten and some leaders are estranged from God.

"If Christ were on earth today, undoubtedly He would stand with the people in opposition to bullying, ill-tempered and expansionist powers.

"If Christ were on earth today, undoubtedly He would hoist the banner of justice and love for humanity to oppose warmongers, occupiers, terrorists and bullies the world over.

"If Christ were on earth today, undoubtedly He would fight against the tyrannical policies of prevailing global economic and political systems, as He did in His lifetime.

"The solution to today's problems is a return to the call of the divine Prophets. The solution to these crises is to follow the Prophets - they were sent by the Almighty for the good of humanity.

"Today, the general will of nations is calling for fundamental change. This is now taking place. Demands for change, demands for transformation, demands for a return to human values are fast becoming the foremost demands of the nations of the world.

"The response to these demands must be real and true. The prerequisite to this change is a change in goals, intentions and directions. If tyrannical goals are repackaged in an attractive and deceptive package and imposed on nations again, the people, awakened, will stand up against them.

"Fortunately, today, as crises and despair multiply, a wave of hope is gathering momentum. Hope for a brighter future and hope for the establishment of justice, hope for real peace, hope for finding virtuous and pious rulers who love the people and want to serve them – and this is what the Almighty has promised.

"We believe Jesus Christ will return, together with one of the children of the revered Messenger of Islam and will lead the world to love, brotherhood and justice.

"The responsibility of all followers of Christ and Abrahamic faiths is to prepare the way for the fulfilment of this divine promise and the arrival of that joyful, shining and wonderful age.

"I hope that the collective will of nations will unite in the not too distant future and
with the grace of the Almighty Lord, that shining age will come to rule the earth.

"Once again, I congratulate one and all on the anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ. I pray for the New Year to be a year of happiness, prosperity, peace and brotherhood for humanity. I wish you every success and happiness."

The world is a scary place! We pray for Obama to make the right decisions. We can only hope he does nothing to legitimize Ahmadinejad or terrorists.
