I realize this is from last week, but admittedly I missed it. Well worth the listen.
Why is Barack Obama interested in constructing a civilian army? Who is it supposed to protect us from? It's clearly not designed for protecting the United States' borders, or protecting US citizens from terrorists, says Beck.
So, then, who or what is the supposed "enemy" that this unit is going to protect us against?
It's a troubling question, and one which Beck discusses in some detail.

Beck only describes it "in some detail", if you consider taking two lines out of a speech entirely out of context. The speech, when taken in its entirety, clearly describes a civilian force of volunteers in service programs across the country and internationally, such as AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps. President Obama was saying that working in good will with other nations is a way to achieve national security peacefully, rather than through warfare.
