Obama Hypocrisy 2.0: Another Tax Scandal in The Obama Machine: HHS Pick Daschle Had "Some Tax Issues" Amounting to $100,000

More Change You Can Cheat the IRS In

UPDATE: There's more! $140,000 more! Good grief! And, Obama team is manipulating the media. Shocker.

Fox News is reporting:

The White House has acknowledged that former Sen. Tom Daschle, President Obama's nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services, had "some tax issues," which, the administration says, have been resolved and shouldn't bar his confirmation as secretary.

FOX News confirmed that Daschle alerted the Senate Finance Committee, which will oversee his confirmation hearing, that the matter involves more than $100,000 in back taxes and interest for a car and driver that was provided to him for four years by Leo Hindery, a wealthy Democratic donor and longtime friend of Daschle's.

Wow! And here we thought IRS Chief Timothy Geithner's $42,000 "hiccup" was bad.

But what's worse is that both Daschle's wife and chief of staff are the latest to violate Obama's BS Ethics/Anti-Lobbyist Execute Order.

They have both been lobbyist for health care issues and Daschle is set to become Health and Human Services Director and Obama's "Health Czar".

What a complete joke. Seriously. This is just hilarious.

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose the more that things change, the more they stay the same

Obama's Army receives its first marching orders! Snap!

NewsBusters has the latest on the Obama/Limbaugh Feud.

The Radio Equalizer blog just broke the news that “a group of Obamists headed by MoveOn.org are planning an anti-Rush Limbaugh attack radio ad campaign.” The radio spots, “set to begin tomorrow [Friday] on stations nationwide,” are “designed to put pressure on GOP moderates in the U.S. Senate who might be inclined to follow the lead of their House counterparts” who unanimously voted against President Obama's “stimulus” package.

Radio Equalizer's Brian Maloney has the transcript of the attack ad, which ends:

  • NARRATOR: Now the Obama plan goes to the Senate. And the question is: Will our Senator, (insert name here), side with Rush Limbaugh too?

  • LIMBAUGH: I HOPE HE FAILS!

  • NARRATOR: Or, will he reject the partisanship and failed economic policies of the past, and stand up for the people of (state).
Call Senator (insert name here) now at (202) 224-3121. Tell him he represents you, not Rush Limbaugh.

Wow! It's on like Donkey Kong! Release the hounds!

Details of Obama's Stimulus Released. Economic Plan Full of Pork, Despite Obama's Promise, Republicans Not Consulted, Where's The "Change"?

What's this all about? You mean Obama lied to us? That there wouldn't be any pork in his economic stimulus? He said he would fix the economy and put people back to work, right?

Redstate dug this up today.

Despite a promise from President-elect Barack Obama to listen to Republican ideas, the plan distributed by House Democrats today includes not a single GOP proposal. House Republican Leader John Boehner wasn’t even consulted:

This is the first time Republicans and the American people have seen any specifics on the proposal congressional Democrats intend to pass, and what we’re seeing is disappointing. The plan released this morning by congressional Democrats was developed with no Republican input and appears to be grounded in the flawed notion that we can simply borrow and spend our way back to prosperity. It calls for more than half a trillion dollars in questionable new government spending on programs and projects, while providing less tax relief for middle-class families and small businesses than President-elect Obama has proposed.

An initial review of the “stimulus” by Boehner’s office found these spending proposals:

$600 million for new cars for the federal government

$1 billion “to minimize undercounting of minority groups” in the 2010 census

$400 million for NASA for global warming

$400 million for “National Treasures”

$6 billion for colleges/universities, many of which have massive billion dollar endowments

$166 billion in direct aid to states, many of which have failed to budget wisely

$650 million more for digital television conversation coupons

Uh....what?!?!?

This an absolute outrage. A disgusting display, folks! Politics as usual!

We'll say it again...America, you have been fooled by your Messiah! Where is the change? Where are the promises?

Read for yourself (pdf). House version.

Illinois Attorney General, House Speaker: Father and Daughter Conspiracy

Rahm Emmanual, President-Elect Obama's political confidante and new Chief of Staff, once said never let a good crisis go to waste.

It seems that Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and her father, Illinois State House Speaker Michael Madigan, agree with Rahm-Bo!

Today's Chicago Sun Times speculates just that:

But if Blagojevich stays put and his saga drags out, then questions inevitably will grow louder about whether delaying impeachment is a tactic by Madigan not to divert political thunder from his daughter, Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

On Friday, she took the unprecedented step of petitioning the state Supreme Court to declare Blagojevich unfit for office and remove him, under an obscure rule never used before against an Illinois governor.

"The speculation is that the speaker is sitting back on this so Lisa can take the lead and get ownership on the issue," said one House member who favors impeachment but requested anonymity.

The attorney general made clear Friday that she backs impeaching Blagojevich and noted her legal maneuver would be another front against the governor while lawmakers go about trying to impeach him.

"Attorney General Madigan's call for the governor's impeachment has been crystal clear since the charges against him were announced Tuesday. [Her] filing in the Supreme Court does not take the place of impeachment. Rather, it seeks to bring immediate relief to the people of Illinois," said Cara Smith, a spokeswoman for Lisa Madigan.

By having a prominent role in ousting Blagojevich, the attorney general and potential 2010 gubernatorial candidate further insulates herself from the same type of do-nothing charges that Blagojevich employed against his 2002 rival, then-Attorney General Jim Ryan.

Nothing like Chicago politics to make a scandal out of investigating and correcting a political scandal.

Advisor David Axelrod: "I know he (President-Elect Obama) has talked to the governor."

Did he or didn't he?

Obama Advisor David Axelrod said this on November 23rd:
  • "I know he has talked to the governor. There's a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced. And he has a fondness for a lot of them."

President-Elect Obama said this on Tuesday:

  • "I had no contact with the governor or his office and so I was not aware of what was happening. But as I said it is a sad day for Illinois. Beyond that I don't think it's appropriate to comment."

Axelrod retracted his statement after the charges were filed yesterday against Governor Blagojevich, saying he "mis-spoke".

Someone is not telling the truth.

President-Elect Obama to Invest in Roads, Schools and Energy Efficient Public Buildings or "How I Spent $1 Trillion on a Failed Public Works Program"

View President-Elect Obama's weekly radio address.

(First things first: Can we wait until Obama has been sworn in before we start comparing him to Eisenhower, Kennedy, Lincoln, FDR or any other President.

The Key Points:

  • ENERGY: “[W]e will launch a massive effort to make public buildings more energy-efficient. Our government now pays the highest energy bill in the world. We need to change that. We need to upgrade our federal buildings by replacing old heating systems and installing efficient light bulbs. That won’t just save you, the American taxpayer, billions of dollars each year. It will put people back to work.”

How much will this cost? How many people will it take to screw in a light bulb? Sounds like a great theory but changing light bulbs? The government does have a blank check. Can we prioritize our expenditures?

  • ROADS AND BRIDGES: “[W]e will create millions of jobs by making the single largest new investment in our national infrastructure since the creation of the federal highway system in the 1950s. We’ll invest your precious tax dollars in new and smarter ways, and we’ll set a simple rule – use it or lose it. If a state doesn’t act quickly to invest in roads and bridges in their communities, they’ll lose the money.”

Keep in mind the latest government building project -- The Capitol Visitors Center -- cost $350 million OVER BUDGET and about 4 YEARS BEHIND SCHEDULE. The point is that government money typically is wasted through bureaucratic channels.

Obama's "use it or lose it" threat to the States will be difficult to manage because of this exact kind of waste, bureaucracy, corruption and mismanagement.

  • SCHOOLS: “[M]y economic recovery plan will launch the most sweeping effort to modernize and upgrade school buildings that this country has ever seen. We will repair broken schools, make them energy-efficient, and put new computers in our classrooms. Because to help our children compete in a 21st century economy, we need to send them to 21st century schools.”

Every Federal effort to improve education (including President Bush's "No Child Left Behind" Act) has produced little to no impact. Again, what is the cost? States and municipalities need to figure this out.

  • BROADBAND: “As we renew our schools and highways, we’ll also renew our information superhighway. It is unacceptable that the United States ranks 15th in the world in broadband adoption. Here, in the country that invented the Internet, every child should have the chance to get online, and they’ll get that chance when I’m president – because that’s how we’ll strengthen America’s competitiveness in the world.”

Internet access is a choice. Not a right. It is not a taxpayer's responsibility to fund his neighbor. Let the cable, Internet and ISP companies figure this out through FREE MARKET ENTERPRISE and COMPETITIVE CAPITALISM! People have a choice to spend their money on technology. It is not "every child"s right. Come on, Barack!

  • ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS: “In addition to connecting our libraries and schools to the Internet, we must also ensure that our hospitals are connected to each other through the Internet. That is why the economic recovery plan I’m proposing will help modernize our health care system – and that won’t just save jobs, it will save lives. We will make sure that every doctor’s office and hospital in this country is using cutting edge technology and electronic medical records so that we can cut red tape, prevent medical mistakes, and help save billions of dollars each year."

Mr. Obama has lost us here. Again, a great theory but the cost to update the technology across the board for the health care system (hospitals, doctors, insurance companies, pharmacies, etc) is seemingly astronomical. Not to mention something we call the Patients Bill of Rights. Obama would not even release his own medical records on the campaign trail, now he wants EVERY AMERICAN'S HEALTH INFORMATION STREWN ACROSS THE INTERNET?

These are all wonderful proposals from the President Elect but they are unrealistic. When President Eisenhower initiated the Interstate Highway system we were not in an economic crisis. The amount of spending that has been proposed by Congress and Obama lately totals somewhere over $2,000,000,000,000 (trillion).

Lots a whole lot of ZERO!

Advisor Who Called Hillary a "Monster" is Back on Obama Team -- Working for Hillary?

Samantha Power, former foreign policy advisor for the Obama campaign, resigned from her post in March after saying of Hillary Clinton: "She is a monster...she is stooping to anything."

Now, she has been re-hired by the Obama camp to serve on the transition team for the State Department, which Ms. Clinton was recently nominated to head.

Huh?
