Dick Cheney More Popular Than Nancy Pelosi?

Gallup:

PRINCETON, NJ -- Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former Vice President Dick Cheney have little in common politically, but they receive almost identical image ratings from the American public. According to a May 29-31 Gallup Poll, 37% of Americans have a favorable view of Cheney and 34% have a favorable view of Pelosi. Both Cheney and Pelosi are viewed unfavorably by at least half of Americans.

Hello? Wake up? Obama campaigned, in large part, on closing the camp! Yet America "overwhelmingly" elected the guy! Did you think he was kidding? Is national security less important than your cult of personality? And this is not a Rasmussen poll that the Liberals toss aside; this is a USA Today/Gallup poll which Liberals love to throw around!

Americans are strongly opposed to shutting the doors of the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay and moving terrorism suspects to detention centers in the U.S., according to a recent poll.

A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll released Tuesday found that those surveyed oppose the closing of Guantanamo by more than 2-1.

By more than 3-1, respondents oppose moving the detainees to prisons within the U.S., according to the poll.

Sixty-five percent of Americans polled said they do not support closing Guantanamo and sending its detainees to U.S. prisons while just 32 percent said they did support the idea.

President Obama signed an executive order in January to close within a year the prison at Guantanamo -- widely perceived by many as a symbol of U.S. abuse and torture around the world.

But critics charge that Obama has jeopardized U.S. national security by deciding to close Guantanamo by January 2010.

And former Vice President Dick Cheney has publicly defended harsh interrogation techniques practiced at Guantanamo, claiming they helped obtain useful information.

The poll surveyed 1,015 adults by phone from Friday through Sunday, and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

Americans' first reactions to the news of President Obama's nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court are decidedly more positive than negative, with 47% rating the nomination as "excellent" or "good," 20% rating it "only fair," and 13% rating it "poor."

Another Week, Another New Low For Obama's Approval; Americans Nearly 50/50 On His Performance

Looks like America didn't like the Special Olympics joke!

In any event, Obama's approval numbers keep dropping and dropping and dropping.... it's almost 50/50 now. That didn't take long.

I take comfort in knowing Americans, though stupid for voting for the Socialist, are smart enough to realize this is not the change they voted for.

Rasmussen reports that Obama's Presidential Approval Index is now at +4. It is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve.

In addition, his "total approve" number is down to 55 % and "total disapprove" number is up to 44%. Just two months ago, those numbers were an astonishing 64% and 29% respectively.

Thank you for waking up America! Now don't fall asleep on me now! We have four years to fight through!

Obama Less Popular Than Bush?

I'm glad someone else is noticing Americans disapprove of the Socialist-In-Chief.

This isn't the change you bargained for, is it?

It is simply wrong for commentators to continue to focus on President Barack Obama's high levels of popularity, and to conclude that these are indicative of high levels of public confidence in the work of his administration. Indeed, a detailed look at recent survey data shows that the opposite is most likely true.

The American people are coming to express increasingly significant doubts about his initiatives, and most likely support a different agenda and different policies from those that the Obama administration has advanced.

Polling data show that Mr. Obama's approval rating is dropping and is below where George W. Bush was in an analogous period in 2001. Rasmussen Reports data shows that Mr. Obama's net presidential approval rating -- which is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve -- is just six, his lowest rating to date.

Overall, Rasmussen Reports shows a 56%-43% approval, with a third strongly disapproving of the president's performance. This is a substantial degree of polarization so early in the administration. Mr. Obama has lost virtually all of his Republican support and a good part of his Independent support, and the trend is decidedly negative.

Ouch! And I ask, yet again, who did you think you were voting for? The warning signs were there, America! You just got swooped up by the Obama Mania!

President Obama's Approval Reaches A New Low

Obama's Approval Index peaked at +30 two days into his administration. By February 17th, the day he signed the CRAPulus Spending bill, he was at +25. One week ago, the Index was +16.

Now Americans are nearly 50/50 on his job performance.


The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 37% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-one percent (31%) now Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +6, his lowest rating to date.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve.

Fifty-three percent (53%) of Americans now say it’s at least somewhat likely the nation will enter a Depression in the next few years.


Just 45% of Americans now believe that anybody who wants to work can find a job, but most still believe it’s possible for just about anyone to work their way out of poverty.

Thirty-seven percent (37%) say they have postponed medical procedures due to financial pressures.

Twenty-three percent (23%) of voters believe government now represents the will of the people.

Thirty-one percent (31%) of voters now expect their own taxes to go up during the Obama years while 18% expect a tax cut. Seventy-two percent (72%) expect government spending to grow under this Administration.

Obama Approval Rating Free Falls Since Release of Budget

President Obama's Approval Rating Index is down to a +8, his lowest rating ever. (The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. )

Obama was as high as +30 two days after his historic inauguration.

Since release of the President’s budget, the number of Republicans who Strongly Disapprove has grown to 57%. That’s up fourteen percentage points since Thursday morning. Only 8% of Democrats share such a negative assessment.

Voters believe cutting the Federal deficit to be the most important goal, but also view this as the least likely to be achieved (so does the ConservativeXpress).

Only 51% of American think it's a good idea to raise taxes on individuals making over $250,000.

73% of Americans trust their own fiscal judgement over the governments. Why any of these people would ever vote for a Socialist Spend-ocrat escapes me right now.

Gallup Polls show a similar trend for Obama's approval.

It's becoming clear that Obama's spending problem is not popular with Americans.

Hopefully they keep this in mind when they go the polls in 2010.

38% Approve of Stimulus, Consumer Confidence Hits All Time Low, Obama Approval Continues To Drop

Only 38% of voters believe the $787-billion stimulus plan passed by Congress will help the economy.

29% believe the plan will hurt and 24% believe it will have little impact.

In addition, consumer confidence index has reached an all time low.

While President Obama maintains a 60% approval rating, his approval index (calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve) has dipped to an all-time low of +10.

Gallup shows similar trends.

47% Oppose Fairness Doctrine, But 51% Think Congress Likely To Bring It Back

Just 38% of U.S. voters think that the government should require all radio stations to offer equal amounts of conservative and liberal political commentary. This is 9 points lower than just last August!

(I guess the more the Liberals talk about it, the less people like it. Sounds about right for politicians -- the more they talk, the less we like them!)

47% now oppose reinstating the Fairness Doctrine.

Even a majority of Democratic voters (53%) say that conservatives do not have an unfair advantage in the media.

51% of Americans believe Congress will reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, while only 37% believe they will not.

President Obama's approval index, while still fairly positive, has reached a new low. Support continues to drop virtually every day since his bounce after last Monday's press conference.

Obama's Approval Rating Drops As Stimulus Bill Passes

The bounce Obama received from his televised press conference on Monday night has faded quickly. The number who Strongly Approve of the President’s performance had been just under 40% for eight straight days before the prime-time show, bounced up over the 40% mark for three days, and has now returned to the baseline.

Additionally, the number who Strongly Disapprove of the President’s performance reached a new high today.

Not surprisingly, most Americans trust themselves (49%) than Obama (39%) when it comes to the economic issues affecting the nation.

Americans do view Obama much more competent than Congress. 67% of Americans trust themselves more than Congress!
